Standalone insurance for internet purchase.

I'm an Australian resident planning on purchasing a stone from GOG, sending to an appraiser, sending onto LM for setting, then finally sending onto myself in Australia - all done over the internet.

I've checked Jewelersmutual but they only seem to insure for US and Canadian residents.

As an Australian resident is there anywhere I can arrange stand-alone insurance and have it updated as I go through the process?

Hey air up there,

until recently, to my knowledge we Aussies didn't have such cover available (a standalone insurance specifically for jewellery items), but in another recent thread The Q Report was suggested, which are based in Sydney I believe - I do not have cover with them as yet, but am planning on taking it out and can say from my talk with them they are strides ahead in their knowledge & awareness about jewellery and diamonds than any other insurer I've ever spoken with.

I think their costs are fair and the coverage plan is just what you would want (option to cash out or nominate repairs/replacements with US vendors).

As for whether they can insure your diamond for setting whilst it is O/S - this is something I don't think they cover, but it cannot hurt to ask.
