Love the first one, it's awesome!

Big enough to see, even with diminshed eyesight.

I vote for the first one, Dana's recut, too. However, I'd be interested in hearing the input from people who have bought stones from Tan and could give feedback on how his stones compare to the videos. Maybe they would look better IRL than I'm expecting from the videos.

Looks like you've made some progress in finding the right stone for your grandmother's ring!

I'd go with Dana's stone. It's hard to compare the colors because of the different photography styles, but I'll almost always take a precision-cut stone over a native-cut stone...unless the color of the native cut was better than the precision cut by leaps and bounds.

A very difficult choice but my pick will be Tan’s 1.53 ct oval even though the cushion looks better in the picture. My limited experience with Tan is that his videos are more representative of the stone than his pictures. While the cutting on Dana’s spinel is very interesting and pretty to look at, I have concerns about the extinction I see in the second picture.

I went with the recut spinel from Dana. Can't wait to see it!

I love Dana's cut, which should up the sparkle factor and Tan's pictures look like there is a lot of light being pumped into the stones, which makes me suspect they might be rather darker.
