Thank you everyone for answering my question!

I’ve been looking at asscher cut diamonds around 1.5 to 1.7ct, G color, VS1 or VS2. I really love the classic cut –Wow love love love……but wonder if I will be giving up bundles of sparkles by not going with a round diamond.

I would really appreciate some expert advice on how asscher vs. round diamonds compare on sparkle factor, while taking into account color, cut, clarity etc…..

you can''t compare them. They are totally different in terms of look. If you want the max scintillation and fire, round is the choice.

It is possible to get an asscher with a lot of sparkle and fire, they''re just hard to find. And it still won''t be as disco ball-like as a round.

I have an asscher that''s a great light performer, thanks to Jonathan at Good Old Gold. I would recommend looking at some stones and seeing which style you prefer in person since pictures will never adequately convey the difference.

An asscher will never be as brilliant as a the best RB but it wasnt designed to be.
When it comes to fire however properly cut ones in some light conditions they can blow most rounds out of the water.
View em in candlelight and you will see what I mean.
The problem is finding a great asscher!
So many of the are just plain crap and very few dealers understand them.

The heart and soul of the asscher is the indirect light performance where it draws you into the very heart of the stone and holds you tight.
If it dont look like you could fall into it ie. 10 miles deep then keep looking bacause you havent found a good one.
imho a round will never have the heart and soul of an asscher.
Rounds are beautiful in thier own light (literaly) but not in the same way as an asscher.

Someone mentioned Jonathon, he and I have had a long talk about asschers and while he knows what to look for he isnt at heart an asscher type person.
But tell him you want one that strmrdr would like and he can find it for you but it will take some hunting.

Robin and Todd at niceice also understand asschers and seem to be more asscher type people than most.
