awwwww he''s so cute!!! When I used to work in our SPCA, someone brought in a mammy hedgehog with 6 babies-they were the cutest things I''d ever seen-I love them.
Really SDL? Do they sell them as pets where you live? I had no idea, I thought they were just a wild creature..Date: 12/19/2008 6:55:01 AM

I own two of these critters and trust me, you probably DON''T want one!
My female ''Lego'' is super-clean and litter-trained, and normally very sweet-natured but she does bite - and hedgehog bites are nasty (to the bone and leave bruises and teeth-marks for days) especially as they hang on.
My male ''Mr Sticklebrick'' is a totally sweetie, but oh how I wish he would learn to use a litter box... instead he just poops on his wheel and keeps on running... and boy can these babies poop! And it smells terrible!
They need a BIG cage, each has to be housed separately, they tend to be awake between 11pm and 4am, so you will be kept awake by the wheel running if you don''t have decent soundproofing.
I definitely wouldn''t ever recommend them for kids - they never really become tame and they''re not very cuddly! On the otherhand, I do adore mine although we won''t have anymore.
Mr Sticklebrick loves my husband and likes to snuggle up inside his shirt - fine once he''s actually snuggled, but a bit spiky with claws and prickles beforehand. The other thing he likes to do is stand on his neck with his front paws half way up the back of DH''s head. Then he sucks his hair and tries to yank it out - all with horrible squelchy noises. Very funny to watch!
ETA: The one in the photo you posted is definitely a little boy
Hedgehogs shouldn''t been given much in the way of fruit and veg - they are primarily meat and insect eaters. They must never be given milk (which they love) as they are lactose intolerant.Date: 12/19/2008 9:13:48 AM

My next door neighbor had one when I was younger...they are actually really fun to play with and they are super cute...very little maintinence. They eat veggies and fruits so the diet is not that bad...
