Holy crap. I just bought an antique ring from Italy for $550, expecting to pay $110 in fees, maximum. DHL is billing me for over $300!!!!!!!!! Excuse me?!

I called DHL. Certain metals (iron, copper...) have a 50% duty. :x2 The description of my ring was just "metal ring" so they dinged me. I have to dispute it now. I am SO OVER this b*llsh*t!!!! :wall:

So when in doubt do they just default to the highest possible rate? That is some super-duper b*llsh*t!

Terrible! BTW, the antique rate is currently 30% before any fees from EU. The US also requires sellers to use a private carrier other than the local post offices for items over a certain amount (not much), so that's another extra 100 or so. It's crazy because the post offices are the safest and most reliable.

I remember seeing this but I don’t remember the price. I used to follow her as her prices were pretty reasonable, but earlier this year I was trying to buy a graduated omc band from a jeweler in Paris. She grabbed it before I could and a week later it was for sale on her site… sadly for *a lot* more. I’m sure she’s very sweet, just make sure you price check and don’t be shy about asking for a discount.

Oh wow! thank you, impressive work haha. That's a pretty good price imo, the one at the pawnshop is 2000 CAD. I'd need to get it for about 1500 CAD, granted, I think the one at the shop is nicer!
 
I live in Virginia and yesterday I went to an antique fair in the Blue Ridge Mountains (absolutely gorgeous, go see the Shenandoah National Park if you get a chance) and I got to meet Blair from the Man in the Moon. Her things are absolutely fabulous.
