Hello,

My wife has been asking for a Solitaire pendant for a while. She would like to have atleast 0.5 Ct. Last time I got her a ring and ear rings from PS and she has been very happy.

Price is definitely an important factor and if I can get it with setting for <1k thats great but I doubt its practical. I am thinking to be safe i should stick with H and SI1 as the lowest I should go. Would you guys agree or can I go further down for cheaper price?

If you guys can suggest some that will be great.

Thanks

this from WF or this

Or
this + this from Jamesallen

EDT: For a pendant I would go as low as a J, maybe K

Go for size, and drop the color/clarity.

Drop color to fit your budget. For my pendant, I got an E VS2 which now I realize was ridiculous. If I could do over, I''d have purchased an I or J SI1 and picked out the same size since the size is perfect (but saved some $).

I have a beautiful 0.5ct J/SI1 bezel-set pendant that cost about $1250 from Whiteflash. If you drop the size to 0.4ct or so, you could do it under $1000.

Obviously there are vendors other than WF...just steering you that way because they''re the vendor I used. They have a nice looking 0.4 I/SI1 that could be set in a gold bezel or four-prong setting for under $1000.

Thank you all for the responses. Will dropping the color be noticeable? Can you guys recommend a good diamonds with say lowest color of H and clarity of SI1. I realize the price might go up but hopefully I can get the set for under $1200?

You'll be fine dropping to I, and even J is probably safe.

But there are two H SI1 .47 Signature Ideal at Blue Nile right now...don't know if you'd ever want to upgrade, though.

Thank you. Will getting a non H&A diamond be ok?

How is this one?

JA

Thanks. I will check it out. what about the stone above in my previous post?

My pendant was only $1,200 and that included the setting in WG. It''s from WF. (the E VS2 .414 size that was $906 plus the setting) If you need the entire set for under $1200, then go for an I or J around .45 if you can find one.

Cool. That is why I asked if the rock in my previous post was good.

A non-H&A diamond from James Allen could be great. This one is a bit outside the parameters PS''ers normally like -- first, the table seems huge! Also, note the "good" symmetry rating. I am not sure, but am thinking it may be one of those 60/60 diamonds that are sometimes discussed here.

I ran the #s for your stone in the HCA, and they came up with interesting results -- in the TIC range, but outside the boxes for both GIA and AGS excellent/ideal. I am not an expert, so won''t weigh in on what it means... my guess is that it could be a pretty diamond and could be nice for a pendant since people don''t usually look extremely closely at a pendant (as compared to a ring), but it''s a bit risky. You may want to call James Allen and ask a rep there to evaluate it for you.

This diamond is definitely more expensive -- it''s an H, SI1 for about $200 more than the one you found, but it''s most likely an excellent performer (if verified eyeclean) -- it''s an AGS0 ideal that scores a 1 on the HCA. So it should be very sparkly:

Hello All,

I know I did not come back here as I had decided to hold up. Now our anniversary is coming up and I am quiet sure my wife still wants the solitaire pendant. So here I am again asking for inputs. any links to good quality diamonds 1/2 ct quality diamond. Cost is a major factor but dont want to take risk so the least expensive good diamond 0.5 ct.

Here are couple from JA

JA Diamond 1

JA Diamond 2

I purchased an M for a pendant and honestly you cannot see the color. For one it's worn in a place where no one brings their face close to. It's admired from further away than a ring. Second it's in a shadowy area and can reflect clothes color, hair color, etc.

You could certainly go down to a J or K (if you found a good one) and not worry about color or clarity. As long as the cut is good and the HCA is 2 or below.

Like this one. 0.41ct H SI1
or this. 0.407ct H VS2

What about a vintage stone, like an OEC?

They make lovely pendants..
Perhaps your wife would appreciate something a lil different if she has RB studs and ring?

So her creteria is that it must be 1/2 ct min. So what you are saying is go for an AGS0 and drop the color/clarity and it should be good? She already has diamond stud ear rings and ring. she wants the pendant to go with her ring and earring.

Hitting 0.5ct brings up the price. 0.5ct I SI1

dimend SCAAI seems to have quite a few 0.50 ct for under $1000. They are GIA and they aren't showing the certificates large enough for me to read off the numbers. But There probably are some nice ones in their lot. It will take some work especially since they don't supply and photos of the stones on their website. If you see anything your like you ought to give them a call and get more details. I've never worked with them.

This is the least expensive ACA around .05ct and it's quite a jump in price. 0.541ct G SI1
