Thanks, surfgirl! The slideshow was great, by the way. It reminded me of the trip I took through an estate jewellery shop. They had purchased a ton of vintage jewellery boxes from auction houses. Some of them were from well-recognized places like Cartier, Harry Winston, etc. The jewellery was for sale but the boxes weren''t!
I''m debating on the setting for a 0.38 ct solitaire pendant and the stone is 4.7 mm wide. The options for the chain thicknesses were 1.00 and 1.25 mm. Of the two, I''d definitely go thinner, but I won''t get a chance to see it in person. I was wondering if even 1 mm would overwhelm the stone!
I think how overwhelming a chain will look depends on how heavy the metal is. 2 chains can be both 1mm thick, but if chain A is a cable chain and chain B is a link chain, A will definitely look more overwhelming. For solitaire pendants, I like fine link chains like the types that WF uses.
