Hello Everybody,

Since a very long time I''ve been dreaming about an asscher eternity band (I would wear it on my right hand since it would not sit properly with my wedding ring). I don''t have an ER, and I am also dreaming to have one, that I would wear on my right hand.

A couple of months ago, I tried on a beautiful asscher eternity band and also a beautiful 3-stone ring (round center stone with pear side stones, similar to Kaleigh and Kristydarling gorgeous rings).

Now we are considering making the move and I really don''t know what to choose !

.

There are also budget considerations : the 3-stone ring I have in mind is about double the price of the eternity band. However, due to the current dollar exchange rate, it would be for us an exceptionnally good timing for such a big purchase.

So, all considering, what would you choose ?? Thanks for your opinion !!

Hey you! Long time no see.

This was a tough one for me, because I adore Asschers, and that band would be devine. However, considering you don't have a blingy Ering, I decided to vote for the 3 stone. Love that combo.

p.s. I believe you still owe me some fire shots miss.

I''m not a huge fan of 3-stone rings with different shaped diamonds, so I voted eternity band. Congrats on having such a fun choice to make!

I''m with Ellen, the fact that you don''t have an ering coupled with the fact that you just happen to be considering my FaVoRiTe combo (round center with pear sides) made the choice easy for me.

Hey Ellen

It is good to hear from you

Quite a busy time these last months and I will start a new job on Tuesday. But you see, I always come back to pricescope

And you are absolutely right about the fire shots ! Dear, what a memory you''ve got !! I tried a couple of times but to no avail

So now I wait for the weather to be more clement to do it outdoors in the sunshine. I hope my camera will be good enough to capture it. I am a bit concerned because it is 5 years old and far less good than the more recent cameras... Without mentioning my clumsiness in taking pics...

Jenn5504 and vslover, thank you for your help !

Well, it''s hard to forget that gorgeous bracelet, and the promise of fire shots of it.

Congrats on your new job!

I voted for the 3-stone for the same reasons ellen mentioned.

Anything similar to Kaleighs or Kristydarlings rings gets my vote. It sounds as if you wound be very happy either way.

I vote for a solitaire b/c every girl needs the BIG bling of a single large rock or a three large rocks
2.gif
... I do wonder if you want to consider a solitaire rather than three-stone b/c you could upgrade, or are you going so big on the center that you don''t think you will want to upgrade?

Mrssalvo and akmiss, thanks a lot for your input.

Dreamer, since the center stone is the main cost of the ring, I also thought about making it a solitaire first with a plain setting and then resetting it with side stones later on (with or without upgrade). My plan was getting a center of about 1.7 carat, which seems to me big enough...now ! But knowing the diamond shrinkage syndrom and after reading many experiences of it on Pricescope...I dare not speak for the future !

However, since I live abroad, upgrade and/or resetting could prove a little more complicated and considerably more expensive !! I will have to send the ring back to the US and the customs of my country will most probably not agree to refund the VAT paid when the ring was first shipped to us (we already experienced such thing !!). Which means that, when the reset will be shipped back to us, we will have to repay the VAT on the whole ring value (including the center stone even if it was not upgraded) which means we will pay the VAT twice on the center !!
40.gif
This could amount to several thousands $ more only because of this VAT problem !!

This is good cause to cool down any fantasy of reset and upgrade....

Are you based in the UK Jessica?

If so, Maisie might have some advice.

When I sent my ring back for some modifications, I waited till I was going to visit the US and posted it then and had it brought back for me later.

What kind of wedding band do you have now? I really prefer eternity rings to wear as a wedding band rather than on the right hand. So I would choose the three stone ring, more than likely. (I wouldn''t choose a plain solitaire for the right hand, though. It would have to be a three-stone or a halo).

Jessica, I did go and look for your ring after I asked the question. It is beautiful! So I still vote for the three stone ring, but I would have it made all at one time because of your location. I''d certainly recommend Leon Mege to do the setting and sidestones.

Asscher eternity band all the way! Very unique and classic.

Kristydarling's ring is fabulous and anything resembling it would be too. The pears for a 3 stone are so perfect. I love asschers but I think they are a "stand alone" kind or stone. If this is a good time money exchange wise a purchase, then take advantage of that because the opportunity may not come up again.

I guess getting both isn't an option?...oh darn!!

MC, we were also seduced by the beauty and uniqueness of the asscher eternity. It is unseen where I live and I never saw anybody wearing one...and believe me, I have my eyes wide open when it comes to jewelry
2.gif
I had a chance to try it on only once one in Barcelona. We were walking downtown and I saw a jeweler''s window and sure enough I went to have a look.....and by chance one was on display

Swingirl, this very idea had crossed my mind....more like imprinted my mind very permanently
11.gif
That could maybe occur.....but with quite a long while between the two !!

DS, thank you very much. Actually you are dead on ! After I tried the 3-stone at the jeweler, I searched for this setting on LM''s site !! And then, I searched on PS for hand pics and saw Kristydarling''s beautiful ring !
By the way, would you happen to know the price range of such a setting fitted for a 1.7 ct stone ? I guess the side stones should be around 0.2 ct each or something like that....

I LOVE the idea of putting an asscher eternity with your w-band, it would look chic and elegant without overpowering it.

My vote is for 3 stone ring... I think asschers in an eternity band are too small to see the steps and windmills...
I agree with swingirl that they are more of a stand-alone stone. Good luck!

I voted 3 stone as you have more finger coverage and it is a very classic look!

I voted 3 stone :) as well though asscher bands are cool I still would prefer the blingy E-ring

Thanks to you all for your help !
