So I think I found the diamond I want to get! Need advice. Do you guys think it is OK?

http://www.bluenile.com/diamonds_details.asp?filter_id=1&pid1=LD01085462&track=tab_view_link

$4160
Round Brilliant
AGS Excellent cut
I Color
SI1 Clarity
1.094 Carat Weight
Strong Blue Fluor

Depth - 62.4%
Table - 55%
Crown - 35*
Pav - 40.9*

Dylan at Blue Nile says that the blue fluor does not affect it and it does not look milky
Also said that it is eye-clean

I plugged it into HCA, and it came up 2.0
I think that''s borderline.
What do you all think? Good deal, or should I keep looking?

Thanks!!!

AGS light performance trumps HCA verdict/prediction. If possible, IS would help. Price seems good, may be partly due to fluorescence. I believe the vendor provides you with accurate information on fluorescence, but it is not strong blue, but is very strong blue, which deserves careful examination.

Did he take it out into the sunlight to check the effect of the fluorescence?? Outdoors in the light is where my strong blue really shows itself. Under indoor lighting it just looks incredibly sparkly.Very strong blue **will** show itself outdoors...I like the look but as I said mine is SB not VSB..not sure how that will effect the stone appearance. They do have a good return policy so you will get a chance to check it out for yourself and see what you think.

Within 30 days inspection period, you can check yourself and possibly with an independent appraiser as well. No intention to discourage fluorescence. I really like it. For your reference, here is the link to a diamond with I color with very strong blue fluorescence with similar size to yours. It is simply beautiful, isn''t it? Hope yours is like this:

Note that Dylan and Bluenile likely hasn''t seen the diamond, himself. He is just going by what the wholesaler is saying, who wants to sell the diamond. So, it being "eye clean" and not being "milky" he can''t really verify himself, as it''s doubtful Bluenile has it in-house.

If you''re serious about this diamond, I would have it sent directly to an appraiser (a number of good ones frequent this board) and if they aren''t satisfied, sent it right back to Bluenile and start over. With these kind of specs, it''s a small investment.

Also, have you checked the in-house stock of vendors that frequent this forum, under the "prices" tab at the top?
