Yay!!! We had a dusting of snow so school is closed! I don''t teach on Fridays, yesterday was a holiday, and today we are out!

You don''t normally see me here on weekdays because I can''t get on PS at school. I''m kinda glad because I can sit here in my robe, drink coffee, surf PS, and watch the inauguration!

Anybody else home because of the weather today?

I will be here, Miss Lorelei! I''ll have to go back and forth between PS and the inauguration, though! My daughter''s school actually had a 2 hour delay instead of closing, so I have to decide soon whether to send her or keep her home. My guess is that there will be a lot of absences today and that they''ll just be watching the inauguration there, too. So I am leaning towards keeping her home, too.

Sounds like a plan! I am keeping an eye out for the inauguration too, there is excitement across the pond!

Yes, I always enjoy watching history in the making! It''s actually a really convenient day to be home, because I would have had to watch on the computer at work while trying to work with kids!

DS, I can''t believe how much snow we have gotten! But I learned two lessons today. 1. just b/c I live in the south and it hasn''t snowed in *years* I should still have an ice scrapper on hand. 2. the accidents are usually caused by the idiot drivers NOT the weather! Seriously the roads are practically DRY and people are STILL driving 20 mph in a 45 zone. If you can''t/are nervous to drive in this weather STAY HOME!

I''m green with envy!

That is my feeling as well, T. I think another danger is that people forget the side roads usually are not scraped and there are often spots of ice. I just like to stay off the roads to avoid crazy drivers and also because I am not confident about driving on ice. The snow part is not a problem. DH has never been late or missed work because of weather, so he''s warn me if roads were really bad.

I called DD''s school and they said only half of her class is there, so I decided to keep her home and have her watch the inauguration with me.

I''m happy at the moment, but the day will come that we have to make up the day.

Oh diamondseeker, I didn''t know you were a teacher - I have a fondness for teachers and all of their hard work. My kids actually have inauguration day off, but I think it''s a DC thing. We''ve been hoping for a little snow here... Enjoy your day!

DS, yes I stayed on main roads but they honestly were FINE. I think it is far more dangerous to be going to far under the speed limit. Not asking people to speed but to stay with the flow of traffic. Think I might bundle up T and introduce her to snow.

Thank you so much! I am so glad the weather was good in DC today for the festivities. I can''t imagine how they would manage if there was sleet and freezing rain!

My hubby would heartily agree with you! But southerners have so little snow to ever really learn to handle it well. We did it for 4 years when we lived an hour from Chicago, but I still hated it!

Hope you were able to get a couple of pictures of T before it all went away!
