For any close to Neenah, Wisconsin:
Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company will host free presentations by Jeffrey Post at 4:30 and 7:00 PM on November 1 at their office there. Post has worked at the Smithsonian for over 20 years and has been curator of the National Gem and Mineral Collections since 1991. Over six million visitors per year visit the collections, which include items of natural and historical significance such as the Hope Diamond and Marie Antoinette’s earrings. Post has authored many articles, as well as a book on the National Gem Collection published by the Smithsonian. His lecture will address particulars about our nation’s notable gems and minerals. The presentations are by reservation only.
Also free and open to the public is gallery of gems and minerals in Jewelers Mutual’s lobby. Recently renamed the R. Harder Gallery in honor of JM CEO Ron Harder, who will retire from the company in May, it houses one of the nation’s largest privately owned collections.
Post’s lecture is part of Jewelers Mutual’s “biannual community presentations” which began in 1998. Reservations can be made at (920) 521-2301.
