small studs oec vs mrb question

Hi All,

I'm looking for a new pair of small diamond studs for daily wear. I'm very boring - wear the same earrings every day unless I'm getting very dressed up. I have a pair of 2 ctw mrbs that I find too big for daily wear, and a pair of bezel set .50 ctw H&As that I like just ok. Since being bitten by the OEC bug (thanks Pricescope ) I think I just really prefer them...

The question is, in such a small size (I'm thinking .80 tops), is it worth switching? If so, I'm guessing I'd be best with a newly cut oecs to maximise the sparkle? I've just emailed Victor to see if he does CERs that small, and I see that Good Old Gold does .50 AVRs.

Has anyone gone that small with OECs? Worth it, or just stick with what I have?

I probably wouldn't go with antique OECs that small because they are usually deeper than a mrb and also the light return won't be as good, especially on the ears. But certainly it would be awesome to have a pair of AVRs or CERs! You'll probably have to get a matched pair cut, so I'd just see how the pricing turns out.

Thank you for weighing in on this, Diamondseeker-- I did push the button on a pair of CERs in the end. They're each .60, so slightly larger than I was thinking initially, but I'm sure I'm going to them anyway.

Beautiful! I had eyed those CERs for earrings myself. I'm so glad they became studs, even if they aren't mine!
