Well, I’ve about as much information as I can possibly get with regard to my girlfriend’s ring finger, but am still trying to decide between a 4 1/4 and a 4 1/2 .

She has a college ring sized exactly to a 4 1/4 which she wears on her right ring-finger, which through some creative conversation I was able to learn the size of and get her to try on her left ring-finger; it seemed to fit fine there also. I’m still wondering whether to get the 4 1/2 instead. My concerns are: changes in finger size because of temperature (the conversation was during the winter), whether bigger is better if she were to be wearing a wedding band on the same finger, and in case her finger size were to change a little. Also, I understand that it is easier to size down a little instead of up.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Any suggestions on thin/delicate setting suggestions for small fingers would also be appreciated.

Later,
Eric

I think it just depends on the individual, but I know that as a right handed person, my left hand is smaller than my right hand size. Of course, this differs among people- my right handed husband''s left hand is bigger than his right. My fingers also don''t really swell up that much in the summer, but if you''re not sure, I guess I would err on getting the 4.5. Or you could have it made between a 4.25 and 4.5.

My right ring finger is much bigger than my left - at least a half a size.

My right hand fingers are a whole size larger than my left. I''m right-handed.

I would go for the slightly larger size. If she''s going to be wearing a wedding band along with it, then that will make the rings more snug (I wear two rings on my right ring finger and one ring is a whole size larger than it should be and it fits great). As long as you''re not talking about a whole size or larger I think it would be ok. 1/4 of a size isn''t that critical, IMO. That''s just my 2 cents.

Well, just to add to your confusion!!

My regular ring size is a 4.5 if I''m wearing just a single ring. However, my e-ring is a size 5 and my wedding band is a 5.5 so when I wear them together, it fits perfectly. It was too snug with both rings when my e-ring was sized to a 4.5.

But I also can''t stand when my rings are too tight and squishing my finger. I would rather have a little room to move rather than squishing it in.

Personally, I would err on the side of going bigger (with the 4.5) than smaller; especially if she is planning on wearing a wedding band with it.
