Sizing from a different store?

Hi there,

I finally got my ring last night!! I feel like I''ve been waiting forever. It is from whiteflash in the Champagne (yellow gold) setting.

The problem? It''s too big. I''m guessing a half size or so. I thought I was 7 1/2, apparently I was wrong.

My question is - I REALLY don''t want to part with the ring and send it back to whiteflash. I''ve been waiting for so long now (or so it seems) that I don''t want it to go away for however long it takes to have the ring resized. I''m in Maryland and wanted to take the ring to a reputable jeweler (Smyth, if you are familiar with MD stores) to have the ring sized down.

Is this an issue? Should I suck it up and send it back to WF?

If you have it worked on by a different jeweler, I believe any warranty offered by WF would be rendered invalid. I know it sucks, but I''d send it back to them to be sized.

I know you''re right, but it''s so sad to see it go away!

I know- but how great will it be to have it back on your hand and fitting perfectly!

I know how you feel. I needed to get some work done on my WF ring and thought about going local too. Don''t. Let WF size it for you. They know the ring better than anyone else and like others have said, it voids their warranty. Besides, a local jeweler probably won''t take responsibility if something should happen while they''re working on it as you didn''t buy it from them, Whiteflash will.

I wanted to post an update for anyone else who has the same question about sizing.

I called Whiteflash and they told me to get both the ring and my finger professionally sized. So, I took the ring to Smyth Jewelers here in Maryland and had them size it for me. And I had my finger sized, and since this is a second marriage for me, I also brought my old ring and had them tell me what that size was (it fits fine). Turns out my ring is 7 3/4 (which is fine, I had ordered 7 1/2) and my finger is a size 6. My old ring is a 6 1/4. Smyth even recommended sending the ring back to Whiteflash. Whiteflash said that because it's a full size and half that it needs to be taken in, they will probably have to make a whole new ring.

ARG! Why didn't I go to a professional?! I thought I remembered my size being either a 7 1/2 or a 7 from my first marriage, and I just went with it because it sounded familiar, but now I'm thinking that's the size of my right hand for a right hand ring that I have (which is actually a little big). It's fine though, as long as it's right, I have my whole life to be happy with the ring (which is BEAUTIFUL!) and 2 weeks won't be that big of a deal.
