Sizing an eternity-style ring

I really thought I had the right size and we did check, but my ring spins and slides just a little too much for me. The problem is, it''s January and I''m always cold. Does this really make that big of a difference? Should I wait till the weather warms up and see how it fits before deciding to try and get it sized down a bit? Is it even possible? What exactly could be done to make an eternity-style e-ring a bit smaller, say a quarter size down?

agreed--please wait til july. my eternity practically falls off right nw but fits perfectly in warm weather--also they can do a couple of beads of metal if necessary

There may be more possibilities. Can you show us a photo, or describe it? I.E are they shared prongs, or what is the setting style? How closely are they spaced?

Last Spring I ordered a new solitaire. My eternity band, which is a size 6 seemed a bit too tight. I got a ring sizer and measured. I went by the measurements and ordered a 6 1/4 for the solitaire. Now it is winter and also I lost some weight. Both rings are now too large.

I would certainly wait before having the eternity ring resized unless someone can suggest a temporary and easily reversible solution.

The cold (relative term, I live in CA) definitely changes my finger size. I would wager that come August, your ring will fit perfectly, if not a skosh snug.

You could have a couple of small sizing beads put in. It helps a lot.

okay, this *may* be a little kooky, but you could try running your hands under warm water for a bit until they swell like they normally would in hot weather. that way you could get an *idea* of whether or not you need to resize the ring. i would think if it''s just spinning, and not actually borderline falling off, you may not want to resize. all of my rings are looser in the winter, come summertime, they''re perfect! good luck!

I ordered my rings knowing that I wear them a bit on the loose side, and right now in winter they are definitely TOO LOOSE, even for me. But I just got them and will definitely wait until the summertime to see how they feel before considering resizing.

I am happy to hear folks saying that theirs are so loose they practically fall off. Mine are the same right now, so I am not the only one.

I am so glad to hear that others have the same issues. I think I will wait, only because usually when I wake up in the morning the ring is just right so it gives me hope. I guess if it''s still loose in the summer then I''ll have to deal with it!

If you go to most jewelry stores, they have a little metal bar that they can place in your ring immediately with a pair of pliers. No soldering is involved so when the summer somes, it is easy to take out again. This is what i have on all my rings at the moment. Usually they dont cost more than about $5. I think you can also get plastic ones that serve the same purpose at Claires or Icing.

Just be a tad careful if you go this route...these scratched a gold ring of mine.
