Sizing? A stupid question, but I am an OldBride...

Ok. I just ordered the ring from WF, and am uncertain about size. I wear between a 5 and 5 and 1/2 on the designated finger, depending upon the type of ring. I''m getting the Champagne U prong with the matching wedding band. Since I''ll be wearing two rings, should I err on the side of larger? I know this is dumb, but I don''t want to deal with shipping the ring back for re-sizing. Sorry to be so dumb, but first e/wedding ring was my grandmother''s solitaire in a ring guard....so I have never really worn two rings.....

I responded on your other thread... but in a nutshell, MHO is to go with the 5.5 size.

My e-ring is about 1/2 size too big in the winter....deliberately did so d/t summertime swelling of the fingers (or a chinese take-out gluttony session), when it fits perfectly.

However, I had my wedding band custom made 1/4 cm smaller than the e-ring, in hopes that it would "push up" the e-ring to a thicker part of my finger.

Thanks for the advice. I have to take a ring to a jewelry store today, so I will use their sizer and figure this out. Going with the larger end of my size scale seems to make good sense.

I''ve heard that wearing two rings together do make them fit a bit snugger. Escpecially if they''re soldered together.

I would definitely err on the side of larger, a wider/thicker ring or rings on your finger almost always requires a bit more room. For example, my 3mm solitaire fits perfectly in a size 6, but I had to go up to a 6.5 to comfortably wear a 6mm Etoile style ring. Adding a wedding band will push your engagement ring up to the fleshier part of your finger, so it will snug up a bit.

Your finger will be bigger later in the day, so don't try on ring sizers first thing in the AM. And some people swell a lot in the warmer months.

The reason for this is that your finger isn’t cylindrical. There’s a lump at each knuckle. Wide rings have the same issue. Go with the bigger size. If you wear it for a while and you find that you are unhappy with the size, it’s usually quite easy to resize it locally.

I''d probably go with the larger to be cautious. But, my wedding band is a smaller size than my e-ring. It fits more flush with the e-ring. It''s a thinner band though.
