Size difference???

Is there a visual difference between a 1.43 carat and a 1.5 carat? Size wise, are they about the same?

That would depend more on the dimensions of the diamonds than on the carat weight.

They''d be very close to the same. I spent months looking for a 1.4x because they are a better value being priced in the range under 1.5.

If they are side by side, you can see a little bit of a difference. If there was only one stone on someone''s finger and you were asked to guess, you wouldn''t be able to.

They''ll look very similar. In some cases the 1.43 could even have a slightly larger diameter. For example:

1.44 AGS0 cut diamond 7.30*7.36*4.43

1.50 AGS0 cut diamond 7.27*7.30*4.58

If you are looking for a round they will look very similar.

A fancy can look larger at a smaller carat weight depending on how much of the weight is carried on the bottom of the stone.

This would be true for a RB also but they have such exact cut standards that if a stone is well cut you won''t notice that much difference.

Are you looking for a RB or a fancy cut?

I think this is an interesting topic. As other have said, it depends on many factors...

The InStyle Wedding magazine for this season has a section on the benefits of going slightly below major mark in sizes... like .94ct vs. 1ct....I believe that 1.5 is a major mark, so you may pay a small premium for those extra few points
