My boyfriend just ordered images on a diamond! Yay! Okay, so the guy at Whiteflash recommended that we purchase a six prong solitaire setting. We are getting an oval diamond and he says due to the elongated shape of an oval a six prong would make it safer and secure. I have had my heart set on a four prong. I just love the look of a four prong. Will it make a big difference? Our diamond in question is not that big...around 3/4 of a carat. What do you guys think?

If WF recommends you set your oval in a 6 prong setting, I''d go with that. I''m not sure if I''ve ever seen a oval set in 4 prongs and I can see why it''s not as safe.

really? I''ve never seen an oval in six prongs! Weird, huh. Well I''ll have to think on it a bit. I love four prongs, but I don''t want to run the risk either!

do you have a picture of the six prong setting with an oval? all of the 4 prong oval settings out there that i can find have sidestones which I would guess offer a bit more protection. i guess if it were my setting, I'd find some designers to use as reference b/c if the big names are doing only 4 then i might chance it. however, if WF is making the setting and recommend the 6 then I'd go with their recommendation...
