Just saw this Steuben bowl advertised and wow it is gorgeous, wonder if it could be done in some less expensive medium, but hey, a sterling and diamond signing scribe? yikes!

omg i love that, i would totally use it for all my special occasion dinners (i wonder if you could do that?)
another way would be to have a clay bowl and a paint pen and then have it put in a kiln to make it all smooth after the wedding (hmmm...i may have to do that lol)

Wow, that is so cool. I''ve never seen anything like it!

I love this. I may have to pass it on to the FIL's as an idea for a wedding gift. FI really likes it too.

ETA: Changed my mind. I really wouldn't feel comfortable asking for something so extravagant, when it's so breakable.

I only saw the price for the "Grand" one which is over 5k, makes the regular one seem reasonable eh? not really. Well, surely something similar can be found elsewhere for less. But fwiw, Steuben doesn''t break easily.

What happens when someone wanders away with the pen?!

You''d need to get one of those chains to anchor the scribe, like at the bank...

OK, now having felt badly for getting Meresal psyched about something I looked around online and found the suggestion on a blog to use a carbide scriber (cost $5) and a Crate and Barrel or something of that nature glass bowl. scriber and bowl I bet most any thick glass bowl will do. And at $5, there can be spare "pens" while staying under $70 total.

Swimmer, don't feel bad. I appreciate you finding other options!! I'll have to search around and see if others have used less expensive bowls. I laughed out loud at the though of having a ball chain attached to the scribe at the guest bowl.

ETA: I actually didn't see the $5000 one until after the $1700 one. It actually made me think, "Wow bargain, at only 1.5 inches less!!" haha

wow, that is so cool!

Wow, that is GORGEOUS. There must be a lower-cost option out there...
