Hello, first time post. I have been searching through pricescope for about a month on a center stone for an engagement ring. I am also searching for the ring. I am located in Columbia, SC and have been working in a salewoman for Solomon Brothers in ATL. I have been worknig with them because it seemed like they had the best price/CT deals and I can drive to ATL for the final purchase which would still be tax free. I have found my own diamonds listed below:
1.32 Si1 - G - triple EGL excellent- HCA 1.8 - $4925
1.28 Si1- H - triple EGL excellent - HCA 1.2 -$4570
The salewoman responded saying:
"I have two beautiful diamonds I just pulled for you. One is a 1.30ct F/SI1 and the other is 1.20 F/SI1 both are triple excellent and hearts and arrows. The color is so much brighter on the F then the G you inquired about. There was just a bit too much warmth in those stones for me to feel comfortable selling them to you"
My question is, should I leave it mostly up to her or should I put a lot of stock in the HCA? She is putting a lot of weight in the color while I am relying on the HCA. The 1.30CT had a HCA of 4.1 and cost $6500. All of these are EGL btw. In you opinion, is it really worth all that money to go from a G or H to a F?
