I went and saw a bunch of stones yesterday and really liked a 3.21 cushion cut F color diamond, GIA Cert. Really brilliant. My concern is that it was graded SI2, I looked at it under the loop and could see the inclusion, but they didn''t bother me, are there any posssible long term effects from buying an SI2 diamond?

Just curious.

Does it have a certicate with it, and what kind of inclusion is it? What are the rest of the specs on the stone?

oh sorry, I just saw that you said it had a GIA cert with it. Can you attach the cert, someone here can probably helo you better that way.

as long as it''s not a clarity enhanced diamond, there are no ''long term'' effects.
what was the inclusion?

group of scratches "feathers?" near center of stone, I can''t get the cert. The diamond is not clarity enhanced, I could only see them under the loop and they didnt bother me. Just concerned as too long term use of stone. They offer 100% trade in policy, so..

Many satisfied SI2 owners here, check with the vendor if the feathers pose a durability issue, which is doubtful, but for further peace of mind you could get an independant appraiser to check the stone and make the sale final on your satisfaction with the appraisal. Finding a clean SI2 in that size is very smart shopping in my opinion!

HI Nick-

I don''t know if this is true, but I was told that feathers may show up more when the stone is not perfectly clean-that the sparkles will hide the feathers/cracks, but if the stone is dirty you may be able to see them. It took me a while, but I was able to find a SI2 that was eye clean, or rather the inclusions were at the bottom of the stone and off to the sides. There are alot of diamonds out there, and don''t feel pressured into buying one now.

I have a gorgeous AGS-0 2.36 SI2 RB that is totally eye-clean and I adore it. (And with the way diamond prices are escalating, the only "long-term effects" I''ve ever had are feeling HAPPIER with it by the DAY!!

There''s a great thread in SMTR on "Post your SI stones here..." that may be helpful to you. If you do a search, you should easily find it.

Keep us posted!
