Hi there,

This is my early 25th anniversary upgrade (April anniversary!). I started my search early and found this vintage setting and fell in love.

The marq. is a 1.48, SI2 (eye clean), I color, med. blue flor. The baguettes are .20 each. The setting is platinum and circa late 40's-50's.

She is eye clean, but her 'flaws' pop out in macro setting pics, which make it harder to photograph, but in person it sparkles like crazy and is a beautiful diamond.

I know marquise diamonds are not 'in favor' at the moment, but as I was married with a marquise shape diamond and had been through several different shapes over the years, I felt nostalgic for my original e-ring when I saw this one and had to have it! Of course this one is a lot bigger than my original.

I don't have my wedding band yet, but I am playing with some different style bands until I find what I really want.

Hello Everyone! I'd like to introduce you to my ER. This was purchased pre-PS, so we got an uncerted diamond (scandalous! ) and all I know is that it's a .48 ct Marquise in a 14 kt wg band. The band has eight tiny diamonds in it. I have a matching WB, but I prefer this little diamond band with it.

I've been lurking around for a little while, getting informed ideas from everyone's gorgeous photos, so I thought I should add my marquise to the collection! Here's my lovely new e-ring, my ring size is 5.75.

It's 0.58 carat D VS2, L/W = 2.01 and the setting is palladium. (Excuse my hands looking like a war-zone at the moment...)

my Its been hard to find a style of ring my girlfriend would like sence she is very picky but doesn't want to be involved with the picking of a ring. Guide lines i recieved was Marquise cut nothing over a carat, and not a slim one or a fat one sort of in the middle. If any sidestones no more then three on each side. White gold or platinium. And she would prefer an antique style. So i was majorly stressed out looking for, and i happened across an Estate sale and this is what i picked up.

This is an absolutely beautiful vintage ring that comes to us from a historical jewelry shop in Niagara Falls that was in business for over 100 years and has since closed its doors. This piece is considered old-new stock (one owner) and has been collecting dust for the past 35 years after the shop closed. I am helping the family of these jewelers find a new life for some incredible pieces -- which their collection has heirlooms of all ages. And what a find this ring is! The diamond is incredible -- white, sparking, radiant - and the mounting equally stunning set with 6 paveed diamonds. Appraised at $5,800

Hi everyone. I have been lurking for a few months and have thoroughly been enjoying reading the posts and seeing everyone's beautiful jewelry. My DH and I are about to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We decided to upgrade my original wedding set to a new one (just started looking) and we chose to reset my original marquis in a new modern setting to wear on my right hand. I googled unique marquis settings and found an inspiration picture I really loved. It had several wavy bands with the marquis set horizontally. I kind of likened the wavy bands to the many roads we have taken in our marriage, some bumpy and some smooth. Anyway, I took the picture and my ring into a local custom jeweler and after tweaking it a bit for me the jeweler came up the ring below. I love that I was able to keep the original center stone (.50 ct., SI 2, G) and accent diamonds my husband picked out from me when he was a poor college student and turn them into something new. (Please forgive my novice picture taking skills.). Now I look forward to the hunt for a new ring and band.

After what seems like an eternity of waiting, my boyfriend, now fiancée, has finally popped the question. He hung the ring box from my puppies collar while I was making dinner. After she walked around with it on her collar for 5 minutes, and our other puppy tried to eat the pox, he lifted her up and put her next to what my cooking, and said she wanted a bite. At first I got slightly annoyed because I thought he was just being silly, and thought he was going to get dog hair in my food, but then I looked over and saw the nicely wrapped square shaped box. I just melted. Here are some quick cell phone shots of the ring. I will try and take more soon!

MyDiamondSparkles » 18 Apr 2011 10:07 I finally got around to taking a few photos of my ring.

It's a rose cut marquise! I wasn't even looking for a marquise but knew I wanted a rose cut. This one just happend to sing to my heart.

Okay, so here are the specs, although I still need to have this diamond graded:

3.78 rose cut marquise, although it is mounted flat side up. Which I thought was weird, but I like the ring so much I am unsure if I will remount it facet side up.
19.6 x 9.2 mm
Original platinum setting dates around 1880's to 1910's.
Color is L
Clarity is Si1

Hello,

Just received my marquise solitaire platinum ring. Usually I'm not a big fan of marquise, but there is something different about this setting that seems to compliment the stone that I simply can't resist. I am planning to wear it as a right hand ring.

I color
SI2
Measurements: 9.10 x 5.17 x 3.32 mm

Lovely.

Classic. People "think" classics go out of style but they never do- that's the beauty of them.

Great thread! Great rings! More please! :appl:

Great thread, Amys Bling - thanks for starting this up! :appl: Loving the eye candy!

Great thread! Marquises do not get enough love nowadays, in my opinion, for such a sparkly cut that flatters so many hands!
Here's mine. Its 1.19 carats 11.5x 5.5 mm. It's EGl I SI3, which an independent appraiser said was a J I1. It's a beautiful stone in person--the photos do not capture how it sparkles. You cannot see the bowtie in person, which you see in the photos and you cannot see the inclusion in either the photo (or in person either, unless you know where to look--it's a clear inclusion in one of the corners which hides in the faceting).

Here's another one where you can see my marquise better. But I am not good at taking photos.

bjmarquise2.jpg

Mine is set in 14K white gold and has about .80 carats of sidestones. I think it is a ring from the '80's. I did not buy it new, so am not sure.

This is the beautiful ring I was given. He used my mother's diamond without me knowing and went to great lengths to throw me off the scent!
