As an AMETRINE lover - here is the major stone I have - It''s a 16+ carat Custom cut from our Gary the DiamondExpert who is always a pleasure to do business with.
Please post pics, description and stories of your ametrine gems , both loose or mounted.
Ametrine is just about the only bicolored (naturally or not) gem "cheap", clean and common enough to allow subtantial cutting artistry. In your stone the colors were separated (as most cut models attempt), but it needn't be...
Here are some examples of ametrine cuts and carvings made to blend rather than separate the two colors:
- by Mychael Dyber
and
- by Richard Homer
of course, there are many more and some better such examples. I am familiar with Dyber's work but do not own any ametrine carved by him. Richard's work is well represented here already
I am not familiar with this stone but love the idea of having two shades with in the same stone. Are there other color combinations or is it just the purple/ yellow combinations shown above?
Thanks,
