Should I keep my Tiffany ring?

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum. I just got a tiffany solitaire ring
It is 1.58 VVS 1 H color. Approximately $35K after tax.
It has 30 days return policy.
So I'm thinking if I should keep it or customize another ring.
I really liked Harry Winston's Micropave style.
But my fiancé doesn't think it's worth the money.
So, I'm thinking if I should just keep my Tiffany ring or go local store to
Buy the diamond (1.75 Cts and above) and
Do a harry winston style ring. And it would probably
Cost the same or less than $35K.

I really liked the Tiffany ring my fiancé picked for me too tho.
It's just the more I look at it,just a bit plain. But I really like the fact that
I can go to Tiffany store and get it clean whenever I want to for FREE!

Any opinion or suggestion?

Appreciate your help :)

If you love the ring and it's the one your fiancé wanted you to have, just enjoy it! There must be reasons why the two of you decided to shop/buy from Tiffany's. Many girls would love to get engaged with a 1.50+ stone. It is a classic that never goes out of style and you can bling it up with a beautiful diamond wedding band.

Did you pick it out? If you have shanged your mind about the style there is nothing wrong with that. And for 30k I'd want to be happy too.

Are you a brand-name kind of person? Does it have to have the Tiffany (or other) name on it to be beautiful in your eyes? Because I can tell you straight up you can get a much better deal (better cut quality - not that Tiffany's aren't good, but they aren't super-ideal either).

If I were you, I would return it. You already aren't happy, and believe me that isn't going to change.

I would run - don't walk - to Victor Canera or Stevem Kirsch's site. They make hands down the best quality pave out there. Find an AGS0 stone (0 in light performance is the best you can get - guaranteed the cream of the crop). And have one of those guys hand make you the setting you dream of from scratch.

You have the budget for it - don't compromise on quality.

If you're happy with it, then keep it! Think about it as long as possible before the return period is up, and only return it if you think it'll bother you if you don't get something else.

As you mentioned, you could certainly get a lovely Harry Winston style halo with a larger diamond. A couple options:

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/2.270-h-vs2-round-diamond-ags-104069786002 (2.27 ct H VS2 for $32.7K)
http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2684389.htm (2 ct H VS2 for $29.4)

A HW style halo will cost about $5000 from Victor Canera. You could also explore some of the new, gorgeous and unique options from Jewels by Grace http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/erika-winters-bridal/caroline-halo-engagement-ring.html#.UxPWBvRdVLg

There are many great options with $35,000. Go with your gut.

Around 5-6K for a top notch Harry Winston (but nicer) inspired halo for a top jeweler - probably go with Victor Canera for his famous halos or even Leon Mege and Steven Kirsch. That leaves you with 30K that can get you a far bigger cushion!!

Heck, I would even return it and make another slightly fancier solitaire with a bigger center stone.

Going into Tiffany to have my ring cleaned isn't worth it to me. I have Tiffany rings and I have not walked into the store to get the ring cleaned a single time.

Honestly I would never own a Tiffany ring HOWEVER, if your finance choose this ring for you and that's what he wanted you to have I'd have a hard time telling him I could do better elsewhere I think it would really hurt his feelings. and as someone else said to have a 1.50 Tifany ring is something many girls would be grateful to have .

Some guys care and some guys don't care .. only she will know how her fiance feels. I know a few of my friends just goes to Tiffany and buys an e-ring within their budget -- they do this because it is safe in terms of return policies and also pretty much guaranteed that you can't do "horrible" with a Tiffany ring. They are fine if they want to return it and get something else (as long as the "yes" still holds .. hehe).

Now, the perception of coming off as ungrateful or spoiled to friends and family (and strangers) is another question. I personally will just focus on what the future hubby and I think .. and not so much others. I have returned several T&CO gifts from my husband over the years because it is just a rip off .... he is fine with that and we joke that he gets the best of both worlds - the perks with getting me a nice gift but yet getting to keep the money in his pocket.
