Posted this question in a yellow stone project thread I have in colored gemstones but thought I would post here as well as I would love some input! Need to decide in the next few days if I should change this yellow diamond setting to a halo. :halo: The halo would obviously incur a price difference.

Here’s some pics of the current ring.

I would halo it. The contrast of the white against the yellow would be beautiful and it would make it pop even more. Though it is also lovely as it is.

As you know, I alwys vote to halo everything. All halos all the time! :) But it's lovely how it is, of course.

It would also add finger coverage if that is what you would like. So many good reasons to halo it.:sun:

I think it really depends on the look you want. If you go with a halo, I'd have DBL do the work for you.

I'm a rebel, I'd put pink in the halo :)

    The pink is pretty.

If you do a halo, will you get a credit for return of the setting? How will that work? Just asking because it may be worth looking at their loose stones if it is just a charge for the new setting and then you have an empty setting. Or can they add it to this one? I really don't know that answer.

I’d put the pink halo it will look beautiful against your vivid yellow center.

I think the diamond & the mounting are both beautiful just as it is. Did you want something with a larger feel to it? Honestly, I think it’s perfection but you have to love it and the fact you are asking tells me you don’t. If you do a halo, why double instead of single? I think when you start adding all this extra embellishment your rare stone gets lost. It would be my preference, if you do this, to do the halo in white diamonds and keep it a delicate single halo. You have a very high quality mounting and the profile is gorgeous with the way the prongs hug the diamond and the viewable yellow gold but I think you want a halo!

I think it comes down to what you want. It is gorgeous as is. You can’t go wrong either way. Do you have haloed rings already?

Pink halo!!! I LOVE the look of their ‘pink lemonade’ range. Of course, it’s $$... but so gorgeous.

I think it looks very nice the way it is but if you are hankering for a halo go for it! The contrast will bring out the color in the stone and the halo will
provide more finger coverage if that's what you're looking for. Its a beautiful stone.

I say a delicate double halo would make it pop.

It's perfect and elegant as it is. I would halo . . .something else.

I love it the way it is, but that's just me. I find I'm a minimalist with settings - I like the diamond to stand on it's own, and I like to see the sparkles and fire from all sides including the culet. I think a halo minimizes the light coming into the diamond somewhat. (but I could be wrong)

I love your ring as is, but then again, I am biased FOR a halo around a yellow stone. Yours would be beautiful in a halo, I'm sure.

i think it depends on what your ER looks like and how often/what occasions you intend to wear it.

as-is, it's pretty, dainty (but still with presence), casual, easily wearable
with a halo it would feel more dressy to me
you can't go wrong, i would just think about what will help you get the most or best use out of it.

    congrats!

I think a very white halo would bring out the yellow - and more yellow is always a good thing. :))

Yeah, I definitely would have DBL do the work! I think it might come out looking something like this:
    Screen Shot 2019-05-13 at 10.14.57 AM.png

Every ring in my collection is haloed except for my engagement ring .

OMG that would be gorgeous. I just love their pink lemonade rings. I really want one in rose gold with a yellow heart shaped diamond.

Thank you =)2 I thought about it more and I really think the simplicity of this current setting is calling to me. I agree with what you said about loosing the center stone with all the surrounding bling, and sometimes less is more! I think the whole ring just flows together very well currently and don't want to regret haloing it. I could always add a halo in the future if I change my mind.

Thank you! This is my first cathedral setting, as I usually haven't liked how they look, but I love this one with the two tone and the side profile looks very graceful to me. I am definitely enjoying the diamond sparkles!

My ER is a 7mm RB diamond with 6 claw prongs and pave down the shank in platinum. I have some colored stone rings, all with halos . I actually kind of like how this ring looks more like a traditional solitaire engagement ring, at least to me, as opposed to my colored stone rings. I might keep it in the current setting and use it as an alternative ER when I want a change. I chose the yellow color as a tribute to my MIL who passed away as her favorite color was yellow!

Pink halo or a very delicate double white! My dream setting for yellows. Makes a statement, has presence, makes the yellow pop and you get much more finger coverage. Best of all worlds IMHO.

Your ring is beautiful, but a halo would be gorgeous! I personally have a soft spot for yellows in halos.
