After months of research and financial wrangling, I''m finally ready to take the plunge on an engagement ring.

My girl really likes radiants so I''d like to get her one of those. I like the square ones. I want to get her at least 1ct, but cut quality is top priority. I''m willing to go lower on color and clarity as long as it looks white and is eye clean.

Here''s one I found at James Allen that I''m seriously considering...

GIA cert specs...

weight: 1.01 carat
color: G
clarity: VS2
polish: EX
symmetry: VG
fluorescence: none
measurements: 5.86 x 5.83 x 3.75
depth: 64.3%
table: 71%
girdle: slightly thick - thick
cutlet: none

And a picture (hopefully)...

What do you guys think? My impression from the picture is that it will look eye clean and white enough. But will it be pretty? The numbers look good except the table might be a little big. Will that make much difference? Am I missing anything?

Thanks in advance to any radiant experts who can share some insight.

I would have it shipped to an appraiser to look at before buying. I would never buy a stone like a radiant sight unseen. Maybe a round brilliant, but not a radiant.

It seems fine, but if you don't know radiants, and haven't seen any, then seeing this one will likely be neither bad nor good. So if you haven't seen any, and are taking aleap of faith based on time or ease, then I think you should be fine. Personally, I would like to choose the personality of such a stone as it is usually a big purchase.

ETA: Also "eye clean"? It's a VS2, it SHOULD be eye clean. It's SI1's that people say "eye clean" as they are defined as having inclusions that are visible to the naked eye. However, I can see a small could to the lower left center of the stone, which I am assuming is the VS2 clarity setter cloud. It's not exactly "eye clean", but it's a good stone with a barely visibile inclusion (considering the picture is magnified quite a bit), so of course it's visible. But again, it's a VS2 which to me is the best clarity for a budgeter with a discerning eye.
