8C2F126E-2B56-4EE8-A84C-59C44C182C02.png Can you experts let me know if this is a dud or not? I’m looking to upgrade from my .94 I I1 VG with my original vendor. Size is most important, then cut and color. The GIA ticket doesn’t mention where the inclusions are...will it be eye clean at an SI 1? The price difference for me will be approx $3000 after trade in. Thanks!

I vote no - do you want a 60/60 diamond? Also w/o images the list of inclusions in a SI1 scares me. Doubtful it's eye clean.

I’m not sure about the 60/60 part...is that necessary if it’s rated excellent for cut? I can try to get more info about the inclusions.

As you will soon learn GIA excellent is a very wide range...and usually does not mean it's well cut at all. The angles on this one are bad, I would pass. HCA is 4.6 = leakage apparent

The inclusions are not favorable. Knots are a hard "no" (they can fall off/out), clouds high in the list in an SI1 is often problematic in clarity, feathers are often not totally eyeclean.

The angles are VERY VERY uncomplimentary. There will be very high leakage (lost light) on this stone.

What is your budget all together (trade-in value + $3000)? We can post some options that your vendor should be able to obtain.

Yes the budget is about $3000-3500 after trade in, but I’m prob going to wait a bit before buying...I was just asking about that particular diamond because my vendor rep reached out to me and they would put that diamond on hold for me with a deposit if I wanted it. I told her I’ll pass. Thanks for the offer though!

When you are ready, if you post your total budget here...we can likely point to some worthy stones.

To be safe just consider it.:mrgreen2:

Can you give me a range of what my budget should be for the diamond I'm looking for? I would rather wait until I can afford what I want then buy something sooner that isn't a good diamond...just trying to get an idea of how long this will take . My original stone is EGL certified which I just found out is the worst one...it was listed as F S12 very good cut...I took it to Diamonds Direct to have it evaluated by GIA standards and they said it was actually an I I1 good cut. I was pretty disappointed to hear that, but on the bright side I know that I can look for I color since that is what I'm used to and it will be less $. If I go through my original vendor I get a credit of $5300 towards a new stone, but as you can see they aren't finding good options for me. Abe Mor quoted me an estimate of $1400-$1900 to sell to them. What I'm looking for is a diamond with a width of 6.9-7mm, I color, SI 1/eye-clean, excellent cut that sparkles like crazy. I've seen such a big range in prices using those parameters but I'm learning that "excellent cut" isn't always good enough. What should my budget goal be for such a diamond? Thanks for you advice!

I am looking myself at something at this rage ,and you can get a deceint stone for around 7000$ I was looking at I VS quality :) I would try to sell the stone yourself and start from the scratch ! Bcs 7000$ quality stone at your jeweler will be around 9-10 thousands for sure

Use this more specific criteria to search @Jessabeka:
  • Table 54-57%
  • Depth 60-62.4%
  • Crown 34-35 degrees (maybe 35.5 if paired with 40.6 pavilion)
  • Pavilion 40.6-40.9 degrees
    • Typically speaking you want the crown & pavilion to compliment each other. 35.5/40.6 or 34/40.9.
  • GIA or AGS certified stone
  • HCA score of 1-2

If you are very strict on cut quality and looking for an extreme one you can consider this parameter @Jessabeka:
  • Table 55-57%
  • Depth 60.8-61.8%
  • Crown 34-34.5 degrees
  • Pavilion 40.6-40.8 degrees
  • Star 50 or 55% over LG 75% (GIA)
  • GIA or AGS report
  • HCA score of between 0.8 to 1.4
Note: once you find this creteria dont missed to check under the different scope analysis and must make sure its True Hearts & arrows.(symmetry):mrgreen2:
