I ordered a diamond. They take pic of it and do a sarin report before shipping. Today when I looked at the Sarin report the GIA Id was different than on the GIA report. It was also .01ct lighter with 59.7 depth instead of 68.7 as on the GIA report. Is this normal!! I tried to call the company, but it was 30 minutes before closing time and.......

Also, how do you post an image? I have an ideal scope and an image of the diamond, I would like to post to get opinions on. I was told the SI1 was eye clean, but I''m not sure I like how the pic looks.

Thanks!

Are you talking about a round stone. If so, the depth is way off!

There will always be some small differences between a Sarin run separately from the when the stone was actually graded by GIA, but not the difference you mentioned!

I agree, if it''s a round the depth is way off.

It's for an asscher cut. Either way, it seems like 9% depth is a lot. I wouldn't have looked at a diamond with a depth that low. I was hoping it is a sarin from the incorrect diamond.....maybe?

Check to make sure that the measurement you are seeing is the depth on both stones and not the table of one of them. 9% is a lot. There is a slight adjustment variation that is common between different machines but nowhere near that much. 1% is fairly common. If it's a different stone, I would expect more than just one dimension to be off but I suppose it's always possible..

The weight on the sarin report is an estimated weight generated by the dimensions. The weight on the GIA is an actual weight as measured by a scale. It's not unusual to see a difference. Go with the GIA number.

It is the depth I was looking at. I found something else on the sarin that makes me think it could be fore the wrong diamond. Instead of length/width it reports diameter. That wouldn''t be correct for an asscher would it?

How do I post pics? I want to get some opinions of possible.

When you enter a message there is a button near the top left corner of the text box to attach a file. There is a 100k file size limit so you may need to reduce it if you are scanning or using a digital camera for the original image.

You may indeed have the wrong sarin report. Do the other dimensions match?

It was the wrong report. He just emailed me with a different one. Whew...I feel better!

Oh thank goodness, you had us worried for a moment!!!
