Shaving down a platinum ring, have you had it done?

Has anyone had a platinum solitaire shaved down a bit to be thinner? I have a nice dainty 1.9mm wedding ring sitting with the platinum solitaire and the solitaire looks a bit bulky. I would only be having the solitaire shaved down a point of a mm or 2, plus it tapers so I am just wanting it to be shaved down uniformly to 1.8mm which is what it tapers down to in the back. My ring is squared off too, not a rounded band. Will this affect that? Thanks for any advice or experience!
