Would love to see any new found treasures folks have come upon unexpectedly... My eyes were opened to the possibilities when I found my recent antique navette ring. :kiss2: It all started with this:

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/1-50ct-navette-ring-rescue.239976/

I have been on the hunt ever since and here are some of my recent finds...

A .45ct old mine with ruby side stones. I’ve since had it resized and gifted it to my daughter - her first antique diamond ring! =)2

1ctw+ old mine brooch. I’m having David Klass convert this over to a pendant necklace

2CB5467D-E9C5-4EF2-A963-BB5B2D4B0C59.jpeg

And finally, a .58ct antique cushion ring. I found this in a coin and stamp shop which advertised it as an OEC. Once I took a closer look, I noticed it was a delicious, puffy cushion cut, just kite set.

So, please share your new or unexpected treasure finds - and be sure to include *lots* of pics!! :P2

Oooh... those are fantastic! I’d go for it! Would you wear them as is or convert them in any way?

They both already have the pendant adaptor so they can be pendant or pin. The larger one has a broken "leg", which you can see in front of the white tag. This may allow me to bargain down a bit. The thing is, I'm really after a larger OEC or OMC. So I might not want to spend on these.
But on the other hand, I hate to leave them in that awful case, unloved!

I think so too! I picked out an antique style chain while I was visiting DK and Amy said they already have it converted. Hopefully I’ll get over there some time next week to pick it up. If not, I’ll beg for some pics. lol

I noticed it and definitely think that will be a great bargaining chip. But I understand the allure of getting a larger stone too. Tough decision! Would be interesting to see what you can negotiate on the pins/penadants. They may make you an offer you can’t pass up.

Years ago, no one wanted it (DH family), so he brought it home for me because he knows I like "old stuff" It's been in the vault, but I got it out this weekend to take a picture and maybe clean it a bit.

xyzus2fCQ6+bD%L3JEcBBA.jpg Here's a detail, the whole thing is about the size of my palm.

Oh my! That’s quite an amazing piece you have @Maja! It reminds me of a Georgian brooch I saw on Lang’s antiques. Would love to see more pics when you get the chance.

Wanted to add another piece I acquired... It’s a Victorian muff/guard chain and should arrive in about a week. I’ve been on the hunt for a bit since I need something that will go with a large imperial topaz pendant I’m having made. I’m also hoping to use the dog clasp to wear a pearl cage or other locket. =)2

Nice to see the update, @stonewell! what a great piece! Length, weight, content? (as if it's a baby,:lol:) The design is so balanced, with the long gold bar links in between the sections of chain. I see these on IG a lot, and they are always beautifully styled with pendants, lockets, even other chains. Neck shots when it arrives, please!

I went to DC Big Flea today to look for gold chains, but the selection was vast, and I didn't have enough time to make a good decision, so I came home without one :cry2::cry2:.

I also tried on eternity bands, but only got through two and my fingers swelled up, so I gave up on that, too. :x2:x2

I could have come home with a gorgeous bachelor's chest, but that's another thread:wink2::wink2:.

@stracci2000 Did you make on offer on those gold and seed pearl pins? I'd love to think they had a good home. My husband finds one every so often while he is shopping for me, but he's never seen two in the same case.

No, I haven't. I'm trying to conserve funds, and waiting for something I'm totally in love with.

Thanks @Maja! I love the mix of long and short links; it makes it much more interesting. Since it’s my first piece, I chose to go gold filled. It was listed as 15ct, 48”, and weighing 29 grams. Although I’m inspired by the article below I read, I’m not sure yet if I’ll wear it enough.
https://www.joyjonesjewelry.com/blogs/news/style-guide-4-ways-to-wear-antique-slide-chains

I have a few solid 9ct and 15ct muff/guard chains, and even some slide chains in mind, so if the look works for me, I’ll upgrade. :mrgreen2:

I also picked up this rolled rose gold belcher chain from the same seller. It’s 17.5” and should be perfect for mixing with my other chains.

Sorry to hear your trip didn’t yield anything, but at the same time, what fun it must have been to peruse through all those treasures!! :kiss2::kiss2: That’s a great reminder that I need to make a point to visit the Rose Bowl market soon!

This is the modern way of connecting one end of a chain to another-instead of a fish hook clasp or a dog leash clasp, this artist makes locks, what we used to call carabiners, in different sizes and amounts of jewels. I see these on IG a lot, too. Yes I spend too much time on IG. A PSer has hers up for sale on LT, and has a thread on it in Pre-Loved with pictures.

I’ve seen this.... and it’s very tempting! The only thing stopping me was the length of the chain - I find choker lengths to be true to their name and too restricting. But that lock.... is tdf!

@stonewell, I love the craftsmanship on the babyloks and chains too, but I can't wear them either. I've tried on some similar things and just never feel comfortable. For some reason, I can't relax, I know, weird. But the long yellow gold chains? The way the light hits them as they move? There is so much pleasure in something like that.

And a big thank you for the link to the article on styling these chains, it's a new website for me so I've bookmarked it.

Have a great week, @stonewell @stracci2000 and all my buddies on PS.:wavey:

Since we're talking chains, here is a 14k watch chain conversion necklace
that I found at a yard sale last summer.

Yes, it weighs over 28 grams. 18" long. Quite chunky! The color is more yellow than the photo shows.

I came across this before Christmas and just had to snatch it up. A French cut eternity band It’s .80 or .90ctw, with engraving on both sides. One side has the date the other has initials. I also liked that it has sizing beads? Not sure if it’s the correct term but it has room to be sized up or down which I found unique.

What a gorgeous band - love, love the french cuts!! It also has really beautiful engraving too. I haven’t encountered any with sizing beads before, but what a clever way to make a larger band work.
