I see LOTS of pets as avatars and mentioned in posts and I would like to know more! :appl:

Goofy tales (tails?), funny stories, things that our pets do that make us laugh  , or smile :D or roll our eyes  , please post them for all of us animal lovers! Or maybe you have a favorite picture? Let's see it! :appl:

Here's mine; my littlest dog is also the dumbest, but she's so cheerful all the time, you can't really fault her. I was trying to train her to come when called. I would say real loud "Come!", from about 5 feet away, she would come, sit down and I'd give her a smidge of cheese. We repeated this about 50 zillion times over several days, but I couldn't get more than 8 feet away or she'd see a dust mote or something and just walk off. Then one day, my son tried it in his room. I heard him say "Come!".

Yup, you guessed it. . .

The littlest doggie came running across the house, sat down at my feet and waited for her cheese.

We've never been able to break her of it either. Wherever she is in the house, if someone IN THE SAME ROOM tells her "Come!" she runs out of the room, finds me and waits for her cheese.

Unless I tell her to "Come!". Now she just looks mystified, and stares at me. . .

My yorkie mix is the smartest dog I've ever owned, and she can find a treat ANYWHERE. My grandmother will hide them behind picture frames on tables, or the other dogs will bury them, hide them in clothes, or drop them between the mattress and bed frame, or between the cushions. She ALWAYS finds them, and she will bark obnoxiously until she gets it, meaning you have to go find it and give it to her. Once I came in the front door to her staring at me and barking. I went to her and she ran to the bedroom door and barked again. I walked over and she ran to the bed and looked under and barked. Yep..... milk bone, just out of reach of her little paws.

She's far too much of a diva to learn to sit though. I say this b/c I can teach any dog to sit, shake, come, stay, and even taught my childhood dog Frisbee and obstacle courses. She will not sit. She'll come. She'll stay. Sit and shake are below her apparently though. Oh well... she's my snuggle bug.

I'll start with the obligitory 'cat in boot box' picture. This is my beautiful Lissey (avatar) in a box.

My most recent cute pet story is about Henry our 5(ish) yr old pussy cat. I use the internet beside our kitchen French doors because it is the only spot I have signal. I couldn't sleep one night and DH was working so I was on the internet (probably PS) at about 1 or 2 in the morning - it was pitch black outside and I had the drapes open. I was startled by a rap on the French doors, then another. Scared out of my wits I looked at the door - nothing, then I looked down to SEE Henry hitting the glass with his left paddy paw and making a third rap. I could have eaten him up it was so cute - and he is so clever!

EDIT: Our dog is also a clever clogs, she knows her toys by name and about 30 commands by voice and sign. Now she is part collie so it is in her breeding to learn. We trained her intensively from the moment adopted her and it really stuck. Here she is with her big hooter:

Steal - Your dog is just precious!! What's her name? See a lot of greyhounds where you are?

Can't think of any clever stories at the moment. I will say my girl Lucy is very, very smart, and she is very trainable by my husband. She absolutely adores him! She will come to me for attention. Sometimes she will put her chin on my leg, which is adorable, but she always faces wherever DH is in the room. If he so much as gives her a glimpse of acknowledgement, she abandons me immediately for him. It's very funny!

I like to call Jasper my trophy dog, since he's such a pretty boy! Not the smartest dog . . . but very pretty!

He's quite agile too! Here he is jumping over Lucy!

Her name is Tabitha and she is also part greyhound (her mom got around KWIM ;)) ). Because of the rural quiet roads there are a number of greyhound walkers here - with 5 to 8 dogs in toe!

HAHAHAHA, Tab is gazing lovingly at her 'raddy' and I took the photo posted above, that is how much attention I get! I laugh and call myself second best rummy, because to her I am, she just adores DH.

OMG, Jasper is amazing in his stylish get up! So cute

W  W to the 5-8 greyhounds!!! That must be quite a beautiful sight!! Lucky, lucky lady! I'm totally a crazy greyhound lady and would have at least 2 more if I could get DH to agree.

I was going to ask if Tab was part greyhound -- the long nose and those beautifully sweet greyhound eyes.

Yup, I'm totally second choice in my house too for both dogs and one of the cats too!! Too funny!

My mom had a Siamese cat named Smo-kei when we were little. I used to pull his tail I guess and he would never bite or get mad. He would go bite mom on the ankle. He got some kind of infection and mom and dad had to give him pills (ahhh giving pills to a cat, is there a more dangerous job other than crab fishing? haha) and they'd have to break out the leather gloves and practically sit on him. Then mom had an AHA moment and put me in a chair and set Smo-kei on my lap, and down went the pill with no problems. Smo-kei used to make the rounds w/us at night, sleeping a little bit with each of us. He would start and end w/whoever had gotten in trouble that day or was sick.

Okay, this is freaking hilarious! The cat bit your mom? I LOVE that! What a smart cat!

He sounds like a really empathetic, great cat.

Haha, great stories. iLander, our youngest is also our dumb, happy dog. I love him for it.

My favorite story, though, involves our older dog. He was in our wedding. I was getting my hair done when our wedding cake was delivered to the house in which we were married. My mother quickly put it in a room and shut the door, not realizing our dog was in the same room. When she came back in the room some time later, one bite was missing from the cake. One Newfoundland-sized bite. When I got home, we stuck some flowers in the bite and didn't serve any pieces near it :) I love that Byron got the first bite of wedding cake and that he knew not to push his luck!

I'll have to think of some good Hannah stories - she's the smartest bunny I've ever met and we're always making jokes about how she can read and write and do taxes. You can see the wheels turning in her head as she tries to figure things out and her problem solving skills are really impressive (she once went under the couch diagonally until she was on the other side of the fence we had put up - it took her about 5 seconds to figure that one out). I wish I could spend more time training her, but it's so hard with two rabbits - they just end up climbing all over each other trying to get to the food and they loose all focus

Otto is our first boy and since we got Hannah to be his buddy he decided he doesn't like pets anymore. He'll let us pet him when he's snuggled with Hannah, but any other time he gets grouchy and stomps off. If he's hiding in his cardboard house and can't get away, he tells us to buzz off by whipping his little head around and putting his mouth right on our hand and pushing it away as hard as he can. He's even gone so far as to put his teeth on me without actually biting. I can't believe he stays so restrained! Haha. I tell him to use his words ::) What a grumpy-pants.

He's pretty cute when he wants something though. I taught him a few tricks before we had Hannah and it took a couple weeks - he's definitely not the brightest bulb, but he looooves learning and tries really hard. Once he learns a trick though, he'll do it over and over and over for a treat. I've tried my best to put a word command with the tricks, but he doesn't seem to have any concept of what my words mean and just spins around in circles happily until I finally feel bad for him and give him a treat. Haha. What animal trainer wouldn't give in to a silly spinning bunny?

Oscar talks. He sits in the hallway and has a VERY distinctive meow. I go to him and say "Show Mommy:

If he goes to the TV room he means"Um, how about cleaning the litter box?"
If he goes to the kitchen it means "I need food/water"
If he goes to the Living Room it means "Time for a Cuddle".

It took me a little bit to get it down right, but we now understand each other perfectly.
