I''m pretty busy. apparently, too busy to pursue (dabble) in the hobbies that i love the most. regular life just seems to get in the way. with a full time job, marriage and social life it''s like there is not enough time for everything. for a while, I''ve felt like my life has been a bit devoid of creativity. i''m a lawyer, and while that might involve some creative thinking, it certainly isn''t the best outlet. so, i''ve been making some time. the holiday break helped a lot, getting an amazing new camera helped a lot, stumbling across some great inspirations helped a lot, the birth of my very first nephew helped a lot.

here''s a onsie i made for my nephew. I wanted to start with some simple sewing/embroidery. and this was a pretty easy project. i can''t wait to make some more.

can''t wait to see the little man wearing it!

Oh, that is sweet! You must have a lot of patience for something so small! Lovely.

I''m expecting my first baby in May and DH has decided to learn to knit baby things for him / her. Poor kid. He''s knitted a small greyish cashmere lump so far, but the thought is really touching!

I wish I could sew!

that is too cute that your hubby is learning to knit for your baby! I bet he''ll be whipping up booties in no time.

The onsie was really pretty fast, not too many stiches at all.

But, i bought six and i''m trying to think up some more shapes/designs...

Lovelylulu, such a cute onesie you sewed! It looks great.

LOL he shows no sign of getting the hang of it so far, but he does keep trying, bless! Actually, you''ve inspired me to try sewing for the baby as a distraction from my forthcoming tax law exams. I''m going to start with something not too difficult (hopefully) - a plain squared patchwork comforter for the crib. Wish me luck! I''m not famous for my creative talent.

Would love to see the other designs that you come up with - gives me something to aspire to! How old is your nephew?

Jen

That is so cute. I made a similar onesie for my cousin''s baby girl with hawaiian fabric cut into a heart. Have you seen the burp cloths (cloth diapers) with ribbon or fabric stitched down the middle or on the sides? They are so cute and so easy to make. Like these http://www.poshtots.com/catalog/Aqua-Butterfly-Personalized-Bib-and-Burp-Cloth-Set//12880/product_detail.asp or these http://www.poshtots.com/catalog/Balloon-Burp-Cloths-Set-of-Two//15715/product_detail.asp I just love fabric stuff. I have a mild addiction to cute baby fabric. I stay out of the Bellino store because it makes me want another baby sooooo badly! I just finished DD''s room a year ago and I''m already thinking of making a new quilt for her. I need new linens for every day of the week I think.

So cute! I would totally buy that. You should start a side business to fund your bezel dreams

Now there''s a good idea! If I get the hang of quilting, we could go into partnership!

perhaps the fledgling beginnings of a new cottage industry...if only we could fund my diamond dreams with cuteness. that would be perfect.

i had every intention of crafting some more designs yesterday, but i was under the weather. some nastiness that seems to be passed around here lately. my nephew was born just before christmas and DH and I are headed to VT next weekend to meet him, finally. i suppose that i need to get some more onsies done before friday...

Sorry to hear you aren''t feeling good. Rest up so you have plenty energy for your trip!

Hope you''re feeling better soon.

Jen

I always forget how much I love to embroider. I made my mom a table runner that matched her wedding china last year, and I haven''t done anything since! This thread just reminded me that I need to head on over to the fabric store! :)
