What setting will enhance the size of a diamond the most a tapered cathedral, regular 4 prong or a contour setting. I personally like a contour but am wondering wheter or not the contour or cathedral will enhance the size more. Thanks for your help =)

I personally find a 6 prong "tiffany style" with the knife edge along the top because I feel it makes it look larger and stand out much better.

I should have mentioned that this is for a princess cut stone.

Ok then a 4 prong tiffany style :)

One vote for contour setting...

Here's what one did to Treysar's diamond ! (link to thread)

Can't see why the same would not apply to a princess cut

ok 2 questions
1) doesnt the diamond sit low in traditional tiffany settings?
2) Treysar''s diamond looks beautiful but im looking for a plain solitare and although its a 2 ct princess cut I want something that is going to display its size really nice. I really like the contour or just a regular 4 prong tiffany but my jewler told me that a cathedral setting would display the diamond the best? any opinions? Thanks.

I don''t know what the jeweler means about the cathedral setting... They are nice, but just could not point out any quality that is not a matter of taste.
About cathedral... well, I think the tappering band next to the stone makes the ring fit the contour of the hand better since there''s no sudden jump of altitude (sorry, no better words turned up) between band and the stone''s table - so a high setting doesn''t appear quite as high. IMO, as usual.

There are so many different "versions" of the tiffany setting that you can surely find something that 1)fits flush against a wedding band) and 2) sits higher. My temporary setting was REALLY high and allowed bands to sit right next to it.

besides, any jeweler can customize that setting to work for your woman''s lifestyle.
