Are channel set sidestones more of a masculine look? Especially princess cut channel set stones? I wanted your opinion. Thanks!

I don''t really think it''s masculine but i like very modern designs. that said, i think the look you''re talking about is a little dated. At least what I''m picturing. I''ve been known to be completely wrong though

I don''t think so but it does look a little "old-fashioned" because it''s been around a while.

No, I don't think its masculine but Im with elle on that it looks more modern. Personally I also think its kind of ordinary looking aswell bc so many girls where I live have that for their engagement rings but of course theirs are just standard. I think if you do this look it would look better with a twist. Something like these:

I really liked the third one you posted with the curved band- Vatche makes some very nice setting :-)

What shape diamond did you want to put in the ring...?
Forgive me, but I think the princess with channel princess side stones has been done quite a bit lately- I was talking to a friend, and even he commented on how he sees them every where.

depends, I have a channel set band and I think it looks a bit dated, but I also have a custom e-ring with channel princess which I later turned it into an RHR and its very contemporary modern looking, but masculine - I dont think so at all if the proportions are right, I have seen men with channel set princess in their band, but the band itself is quite thick so that adds to the masculinity

Thanks for your opinions! My husband and I are looking to reset my .98 round brilliant diamond into a new wedding set--I am looking at cathedral style settings with channel set sidestones. The sidestones can either be princess cut or rounds, and I can also add milgraining if I want to. For some reason, I think of channel set princess cut stones as more of a masculine look. However, there is an advantage to channel set princess because they don't show any gaps, whereas rounds that are channel set do. I'm not crazy about that look either. Maybe the milgraining would soften things up a bit with the princess.

I have channel set princess sidestones in my ring, and while I like the continuous look with no gaps, I wish I had considered rounds or square step cuts. Very small princesses provide only minimal light return.

Some people hold the association that curves are feminine and straight square edges are masculine.

Whether you apply that to diamonds is your own call.
What I think does not matter.

But since, or if, you think of princess cuts as masculine and if you want the ring to appear feminine to you then don''t get princess diamonds.

You are the one who has to wear it.
Make sure you are 100% happy with all your design decisions or else the ring will bug you for ever.

It''s really funny but I''ve never really been a fan of princess cuts on shoulders (in a channel) - it just doesn''t make my heart sing but I would never have worked out why and you''ve hit the nail of the head. To me, it does look masculine. I''ve spent ages thinking about this and I think it can look much better with millgraining AND if the surrounding goldwork is very thin. The thickness of the gold holding in the princess cuts can add to the masculine look.

Have you thought about using longer baguettes end to end? It''s a different look and because each diamond is longer it has the illusion of being sleeker. Again, with millgraining and skinny goldwork it could look lovely.
