If I find a setting I love while I am in South Africa, should I buy it? I will later be buying the diamond over the internet in the US.

Or should I just take a picture and try to get it custom done when buying the diamond?

What would be cheaper?

there are many variables, if the ring is one piece cast, then you are limited to the size and possibly shape of the diamond. If it''s cast with a separate head, then maybe you can have that switched out to fit your diamond appropriately when you get back to where ever that may be. If you can take pictures of the ring that might be a better option in my opinion, unless it is very cheap that you are ok with buying it and you understand full well that it may or may not work with the particular diamond you have in mind later. The original setting could also be great to have if you want to custom make the exact ring if it doesn''t fit what you want it for, but again its the cost factor that you have to think about.
