I'm looking for a stock setting in white gold, to house a large blue topaz in a radiant style of rectangular cut. 16-18 carats. Do you know of any stock settings like this? I'm looking for 1k or less preferably, is that a crazy budget?

custom imo.

16-18 carat settings with diamond baguettes would be unusual unless your last name is Graff

Based on your user name, I'm guessing you are in the UK. There are UK jewelers who could order a CAD-based, semi-custom mounting for you from Stuller, a US-based mountings manufacturer that sells only to the trade, not retail customers. Stuller does have stock mountings for stones as large as that -- depending on the mm dimensions -- but none of the stock mountings for large emerald-shaped gems has baguette side stones.

This 2013 catalog shows the wholesale prices for many of Stuller's stock mountings; it's up to the local jeweler to decide how much of a mark-up to charge to the retail customer.

But I noticed in your other thread, in the Colored Stones forum, that the topaz is being recut by Jerry Newman at Gem Art. So how about asking if (a) he will explore & price some Stuller options for you, and (b) order the Stuller mounting, if there's one that pleases you & set the stone, before shipping back to you? If he's willing, that arrangement would eliminate some hassle, and additional shipping costs, for you.

P.S. I would not make a final decision on the mounting style until you know the dimensions of the recut stone as the depth of the stone might influence your choice of mounting possibilities.

The final size will be width of something like 10.5-11 mm and length of about 15 mm. That will be around 16-18 carats. Will look sizeable on my size 4.5 finger, which is why a solitaire with side tapered baguettes is my choice of setting.

So far as I can quickly tell, Stuller does not have any stock mountings -- with or without side accent stones, of any kind -- for an emerald-shaped stone that's 15 mm x 11 mm. Assuming those are the precise mm dimensions it ends up being, there isn't a lot of "wriggle room" when it comes to head settings; precise measurements really do matter. ;))
