Setting Types

Does anyone know of a website that will help me to define different setting types? I think I have most of the very basics, 4&6 prong, split prong, fishtail, basket, bezel, halo... I want to learn the right lingo for describing what I invision in my mind. I''m not sure if what I picture is a basket, a halo, or a bezel... I picture like a basket except the "support" bar is alongside the girdle and not farther down. But yet I don''t want the bar to be larger like in a halo... I''ve seen some settings that look like they have a wide washer for like a sink? with the diamond sitting in it and prongs holding it on... but I was wondering... if the stone were set just a little deeper in that ''washer'' and the sides came up like a bezel, wrapping the entire diameter of the stone, but just barely, not to hold the stone, just to protect the girdle... and have little prongs that just went over the edge to hold the stone... does this exist? What I describe would have nothing but a basic basket of some sort under, so from the girdle down the diamond was naked. Basically, like a bezel that ONLY fit the girdle, but wasn''t loose around the girdle like a halo?

that is one AWESOME link - not just because it provides a link I hadn''t found before in my searches on settings and prongs, but there''s a link in it that takes you to an amazing site of information!!! http://www.professionaljeweler.com/archives/articles/main.html Only problem is most of it is old... but still, reading some of it is amusing - like the articles on sales techniques LOL
