Hello everyone!

I finally found my new beauty. She's a slightly sleepy Mahenge and her color is rad! It's a cushion cut 1.7ct (approx. 7.00x6.37mm)
I definitely want to set in into a ring but would like some ideas. I'm leaning towards a halo setting... maybe in yellow gold... just don't know.

here it is

Glorious!!! I think you really need to keep in mind if you prefer yellow or white gold. Yellow may look better, but if you prefer white gold the ring will set in your jewelry box. I prefer white gold with diamonds so I think a diamond halo would be great.

lisa, I actually love and wear every color gold. I also think I like the look of halos on brightly colored stones. I'm opened to any ideas! I do Have another blush spinel being set in a rose gold, pink sapphire, halo with diamonds on the shank.

Lovely stone.

I wouldn't halo because there are SO many halos now that I'm not sure how long they will stay in fashion (although of course this is not a reason to do it)! If that were my stone, I'd buy two diamonds in either oval or round (or white sapphires or another diamond looking stone) and have a simple three stone ring on a white gold shank (with the head for the spinel in yellow gold). The spinel needs to be centre stage and is large enough not to have a halo!!!

Beautiful color & a great ring size! Would look lovely in buttery yellow gold. There are a lot of halos as LD says, but that's a classic look that never goes out of style imho. Diamonds or white sapphires would set off that wonderful strong pink beautifully -- I wouldn't personally go for colored accents that might distract attention from the mahenge. Whatever you decide to do, you'll get a thrill wearing it!

This stone is well shaped and has such wonderful colour that it will go well with any metal colour and any setting style. It is all a matter of what you like.

I love bright pink stones with white gold. Gorgeous stone - do you mind sharing the vendor?

Beautiful stone! I have to agree with another poster that said halo's (while nice) are very common place. That stone would like amazing strapped to your finger with a twist tie, so you can't go wrong. If it was mine I'd probably do white metal and flank the Spinel with some brilliant cut trapezoid diamonds.

Oh! I'm really excited! I really like the Idea of the 2 side stones being ovals. I've already made up my mind for the spinel to be set in yellow gold (at least the head). That being said, does anyone know of an online setting co. that wont charge an arm and a leg? I'm having a little trouble finding a decent one. While I love my local jeweler, they're also expensive and don't trust they know much about spinels.

Are you thinking of going custom or want something already made?

Whatever will keep me within my $1,000 budget maaaaybe $1,200. I've decided the three stone with oval or half moon side stones. Also, what size side stones would look best? sorry for all the questions! :)

The ovals and half moon diamond sides might blow your budget.

I don't have to have diamonds. White sapphires will do.

*doesn't*

Here's a setting I've been eyeing. It's an LOGR setting. I would change it to yellow gold and upgrade the diamonds.

That stone is stunning!!! The saturation looks great. I think it would be a great stone to halo if you wanted to, but it will be a knockout however you set it.

That is absolutely gorgeous, laurakayp - popping colour! Stone twins indeed. ;)

Beautiful stone and I cannot wait to see it set! Would you mind sharing where you found that beauty?

I love the 3 stone idea and the setting you picked out from LOGR would be great. I would do it two tone though!
