How would you suggest setting a pink marquise shaped diamond? I''m thinking about bezel set in rose gold, with a white diamond halo/microsetting, on a thin, pave band. Any other suggestions (keeping in mind that I don''t like East-West set stones)? I''d love to see pix.... :)

Here''s some

Pink Diamond $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ What size and how pink? Depending on how intense the color is might make a difference on using rose gold. Im just trying to picture different shades of pink up next to rose gold.

How does it look ?

I love pink diamonds -- if only I could afford more than a fleck that would be great! I love the first ring that Sevens One posted. The twisted side is lovely, and I think setting the marquise in a rose gold bezel will really set off the intensity of the pink. Tell us more about this stone and where you found it.

This is basically what I want, except I''d like the stone to be bezel set in rose gold, instead of prong set. I emailed DCD days ago asking if they could customize the ring that way, and they never got back to me.

Here is ia photo of the stone, which is .79 carat, light pink (GIA), and measures 8.89mm x 4.93mm:

Oh, and I don''t want the ring to have the profile of the DCD ring. I want it to have a gallery like this with hearts:

oooooh i like the heart gallery....i saw that on fay cullen recently

Honestly, I''d go with something simple. . .simple pave band with diamonds around the stone.

Reason I think so is we''re not talking "ordinary" diamond here, but a unique PINK stone. The stone should be more of the center focus *then ever* and with a .79 carat weight, seems like the heart galley would swallow your stone up. JMO

Light pink will really get a boost from a pink gold bezel (underside at least, if you want "prongs" to show face up. Actually, even a white diamond would look "pink" in such a setting. The stone in the picture might pick up color from the setting even more than usual given the cut (the strongly bowed sides announce relatively shallow pavilion angles - not that it''s a bad thing).

It is not small, so almost anything is feasible.

Actually, how does pink pave sound ? Like these LINK

You would not need as many either. See what happened to this oval

It is easy to simpathyze with the open bezel (=my name for a bezel setting with open sides) setting at Fay and can''t see why such a thing would not be feasible with a marquise

Icestore did something close to a princess cut

Also, you mention this one:

How about a version with the marquise (set in pink gold) ?

Perhaps a version of this one (still with pink gold frame for the marq.)?

This is one fun hunt !

Very pretty stone, MA! I love the idea of a rose gold bezel. And the detail work you show for underneath it is very pretty too!

Love the stone, the color looks beautiful!

I would tend to agree with Michelle that the DCD setting without the bezel would be an exceptional look for the stone...love the rose gold idea as well as long as it would be a color to complement rather than detract.

Also not sure about the heart motif unless someone could do it a bit more ''dainty'' looking than the one in that image, that looks too metal heavy for a .79c stone, for my taste anyhow.

I''m sure the end result will be excpetional, what a fun project. Where did you find the stone?

I know this is not the style you wanted but figured I''d post it anyhow...

It''s a 1.56c marquis.

and here is a amazing light pink monster stone...in a 18k rose gold and platinum setting, so this may look like what your stone would be like in a rose gold setting. I think it''s very complimentary and better looking than the platinum of the previous marquis image.

The micropave settings that DCD now has on their website are beautiful. Perfect for that pink beauty. I talked to Jim recently about them, and he said each one is made custom so some alterations can be made.

Sometimes it takes a couple of days for vendors to respond to all their emails. I''m sure they get a ton. I have talked with both Jim and Josh at DCD several times, and they''ve been readily available by telephone. Give them a call on Monday (remember DCD is in Maryland).

I would only have hearts in the gallery if they were smaller and daintier, and fit the smaller nature of this ring. That picture was just for the idea, not the exact thing. I like the idea of having a halo around the stone, as .79 ct is a small stone for me (I wear size 6.5 and 7, and my other rings range from 1-2.25 ct. center stones.) and that will give the ring a larger presence on the hand.

I found the stone at icestore. I look at their gorgeous stuff all the time, and actually found a loose stone there I could afford!

That yellow heart ring shown above has been on my dream list for a long time.
