Ok guys, I think I''ve finally decided on a stone, a 1ct asscher. Now time for the setting! Which of these settings do you guys like? They are all Ingwer. Also, does anyone know where I could get the yellow gold setting design, but in platinum?
Thanks again
COrey
I dont like any of them for an asscher.
They are too "busy" looking and will detract from the looks of the stone.
An asscher works by drawing the eye into it any setting that distracts the eye from it wont bring the full beauty of the stone into play.
That setting is beautiful that Diamondsbybree posted, that's what I would choose, but it looks alot different from what Corey had originally posted..of what you posted Corey, I would go for the last ring, the WG or Plat one
I agree that I don't want to distract from the stone. I was looking for something with a mild accent that would actually draw the eye TOWARDS the center stone. I thought the taper cut on the channel set sidestones would help with that. I also want a thin ring because she has petite fingers, and to maximize the appearance of the stone.

If you've decided on one of the 4 settings you listed I like the one on the upper right. Have you asked the company if they could offer the set in platinum? I'm also wondering if the set would look better with princess rather than round diamonds.
I have a beautiful Asscher, it is so mesmerizing, I think it looks great as a solitaire. I wear it with a channel set diamond wedding ring, for a little extra sparkle.
I would suggest a classic setting for an asscher, like the one posted by bree, or a classic tapered baguette look, micro pave, small bead-set diamonds, etc. And it can be delicate and non-distracting from the stone.
The settings you've posted are lovely but I honestly don't think they will do an asscher justice...they seem more appropriate for a round.
Thank you all for the input. I see your point, and now I just have to try and find the right ring at the right price. (looking to spend $1200 tops)
I definitely want something elegant, but not simple. Platimun is preferable, and maybe a couple channel set diamonds as a highlight. I want a thin shank, and maybe something that tapers a bit as it gets closer to the diamond.
It's a tall order, but only the ideal ring will do for my baby.
I really like the Cartier reproduction that Quaeritur posted- especially the split prongs on the corners. They seem to enhance the cut corners- solid prongs tend to hide a lot of the 'asscher' look.
I was going to post my asscher ring and someone else already beat me to it! (Mine is the asscher in the WF pave band with surprise diamonds.)That setting is more than your budget (it is $1750), but the platinum X-prong is about $1200 (without sidestones), and that would be gorgeous! I think you will have a hard time finding a nice platinum setting with diamond sidestones for $1200 or less.
To echo what others said, the first settings posted are not suitable for asschers.....they look boring, and will definitely not showcase the beauty of this cut. Please consider some of the options others have posted!
