This is completely unrelated to my dropped, possibly chipped stone from monday.

Month from hell.

Anyways, I ordered a 7.25 solitaire setting from since1910.com for my 3carat (gave them the exact measurements) and today when the jeweler went to set the stone it was too small... said there was no way it would fit. Plus, it came in a size 7. I am leaving in two weeks for my wedding and don't know what to do!!!! The store is putting it in a 6 prong basic, basic setting so I will at least have my ring for the wedding. Should I be able to get a refund? I know which setting they are putting it in and I HATE IT, but it's the only option I have at this moment. I am SO bummed :blackeye:

Another question, every time I switch settings do I need a new appraisal?

For this temp setting, I wouldn't do another appraisal. I would just loupe the inclusions to make sure that it's still your diamond (that's been set into the temp setting). Kudos to your jeweler for having something on hand that could work in a pinch! :appl:

Once it's been set into the setting that you want, I'd have it appraised again.

I think the merchant should take the wrong setting back for an exchange to the correct setting without problem (though, I have no dealings with since1910.com, so cannot say for sure) because getting the head size wrong is a big thing and it is totally on them -- but the difference in band size is small and could be due to differences in sizing systems. I would buy a cheapo ring that fits well and has a similar shank width and send it to since1910.com for sizing when you do the exchange.

It's tough to deal with this (and everything else!!) the week before your wedding! <sends good thoughts>

+1 what Antelope said.

If it does not fit, the vendor should take the setting back.

Much dust, Bean. These are not the type of things we like to deal with before weddings. But at this point, there's not much else that can be done. So, it's probably best to let it go and work on getting the right setting after the wedding is over, when you don't have 100+ things to worry about.

I just wanted to update that since1910 is helping me out with returning the setting. I have the stone in another temporary setting until I decide what to do.

So, kudos to since1910.com! thank you!

Good news!
