while waiting on DH to come home and help me decide which stone to get I was wondering. . . .
I want a plain, thin plat band to mount it. It should fall between 2.8 - 3.3 carats, can I get away w/ 4 prongs?
I want to "collect" fun, thin anniversary bands in different gems, diamonds and stone shapes to change out for fun or to wear alone/stack when we travel so I don't have to wear the solitaire.

Is 4 prongs too risky w/ this size?

I prefer the 6-prong look on a thin band for an RB plus it gives you added security. MY 6.89 RB is in a 6-prong tiffany yet my 6.39 EC is [obviously] in a 4-prong basket with baguettes. Both are in Pt.

If you really like 4 prongs, how about making them double prongs? I love the look of double prongs!

similar to "claws"? I like that too.

Diamante, do you have a photo of the RB handy?
My jeweler wears a 3.5 RB on a dimaond anniversary band and I noticed hers had 6 prongs today too.

actually, come to think of it, I don''t think I''ve ever noticed double prongs on a round. . . off to look!

Yes...that would look gorgeous!

I would do 6 prongs on a stone that size.

I would do 6 prongs or 4 double prongs for a diamond that size.

Found the buried thread. It has some other rings on it too. The pics could be better but I think you'll get the idea.
