Hello once again.

I need to tap into the knowledge base here once again. As you know I purchased a GIA,F , 1.26 asscher, vvs2.

I''m thinking of putting one smaller asscher (.33-39 ct) on each side and just a tad bit lower than the center stone. I already have a highly qualified jewler in the area, I just need to find the semi mount....any ideas? If you have any ideas on the other stones, please feel free to chime in.

Thank you in advance for you''re help.

Thank you for the link. I really like the first link you supplied. If I would put an asscher on both sides, would that be too repetitive? Could I go with an emarald on both sides or maybe a radiant?

I want the attention on the center stone of course and would like to enhance the center stone as well.....any thought on cut and size it should be? Do jewlers typically carry a three stone blank that these could be easiy set into ?

Thanks again.

I think a 3 stone asscher would be BEAUTIFUL! I think the size you are thinking for the sides 0.33 in asschers would in no way take away from the center, since the center is much bigger at 1.26. I would DEFINATELY do all asschers

!!!!! I'm somewhat of a matchy person, and I personally would think it would look a little "off" with radiants or emeralds. I would do trillions if you just have to go with another shape

. I have seen some blank 3 stone semi-mounts, just a matter of finding them again....hmm...

ETA: Don't know if they sell just the mounting but here is one: http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=5922&page=1&show_all_pages=1&col=3&row=4&pos=12&set_shape=
And one in YG: http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=5925&page=1&show_all_pages=1&col=3&row=2&pos=6&set_shape=

You can see they are kind of pricey just for the mounting. I think I would have GOG source an asscher pair to match in color/clarity etc with your center stone and let them set it. I bet you would save a lot of money that way. Unless you really have your heart set on using your own jeweler. If that's the case, I would think he would have a catalog or something for you to choose a mounting out of.

i know you are looking for a semimount but here''s a pic of a 3 stone asscher just so you can see what one might look like. this one is a daniel k from pearlmans:

What are the sizes on those stones in comparison?

I personally like step cut traps or step cut half moons with asschers for three stones. Or my all time favorite, baguettes.

based on the dk rings on the site, the sidesstones are each about 1/2 the size of the center stone. so just looking should look for sides that are about .50 each IMO to get that same look.

I would also prefer baguette sides with an asscher as opposed to three asschers. It would be easier to match up (Leon would get those for you) and it would cost less, too! I think .33-.40 asschers would be really tiny, so I probably would not go that route.

(Ditto to what MrsS said. You'd need larger asschers to make the three stone asscher ring work.)

Thanks I was just curious for proportion! Thanks! Oh I like baguettes with asschers too

LOL...I had to set down because of all the idea''s...remember, you''re talking to a guy

After my search for a asscher and if I recall my querry was .33 .40 and I came out around $500 give or take per diamond. Whats a baguette going to cost ? Is this anything like french bread ?

Will it still add some width and sparle to the assher ? It''s a GIA exc, exc...but wouldnt mind making it look larger than a 1.26.

Regards

Thanks again in advance

I really like that setting and it has a spread of 6.31 vs my -6.24x6.19.

I'm a little concerned however that my 1.26 may look small. After seeing some of the rocks on here I have a little bit of a complex....LOL

Asschers unfortunately do face up smaller than rounds of similar weight, but they are beautiful stones. Would you consider a halo setting?

Here's an example (but this one won't let a band sit flush):

one that will let the band sit flush:

I cant see a halo setting...they are really nice but a tad bit busy.

Finger size is a factor also. What size fingers does she have?

ETA: If you set it in fairly thin bands (around 2mm) it will make it look larger also

Okay, there are also settings that are nice for an asscher such as Musey''s:

Her finger size is 5.5-6, she says a 6 fits better, but, if a smaller band makes it look larger...she will be wearing a size 3

This is a round in a baguette setting, but you can get an idea of what we mean (this one belongs to asscherisme):

I actually meant the width of the band

I think that size a 6.24 x 6.19 will look really beautiful on her hand, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I do think I would add some sort of side stones either a 3 stone, or melee (small diamonds), etc just to give it a "dash" of extra sparkle

. Diamonds tend to look a little larger once they are set too (at least to me they do).

Ok, Im still searching for a setting. I did find this one by Natalie K

http://www.masseysjewelers.com/nataliek/nataliek.html

Any thoughts? I spoke to the jewelery store and the price was around $3500 but since gold is so high he said its alot more than that right now, so much they wont even carry it in stock.

That''s a pretty wide band, so it would probably make your diamond look somewhat smaller than it is.

Yeah. NO.

That's gonna make your asscher look TINY. And it's really busy, if you were worried about the halos being busy... man, you got traffic going on there.

If you don't know what type of setting she'd prefer either propose in a temporary cheap white gold setting or with just the loose stone.

Otherwise, I'd go for the more classic baguette look as it's timeless and has broad appeal.

Here's a twist on the classic baguette setting... bullets:

Gypsy,

Your killing me...thats too funny, your right....the setting I was looking at didnt come up on the link. The one I was looking at was 7103-W. Let me try this again, its still comes up as a main page..so just look for 7103-w on the left side.

Who made the semi that you posted...that is beautiful.

thanx.
