I have a parcel weighing 2.22 ct of mixed old cuts, some are old mines, some are old europeans. There are some that are a little chipped around the girdle.

I'd like to sell them but have no idea what price to ask for. I went to a dealer here in London and he refused to make me an offer unless I had a price.

The question is how much should I ask for?

I forgot to mention that there are a 6 x 10 pointers, 5 x .15cts 1 x 0.23cts and 2 x .33ct

Re: Selling price for old mine cut mixed size parcel

Anyone out there? Help is really appreciated.

I had a dealer say they'd of $160 per carat!

I really don't know without more specs on the diamonds. But I am passively looking for @ .30 pt / 4mm old cuts for a down the road project if you are interested in maybe letting just those 2 go. If you have an ad on LT or DB, and want to talk, post it so I can reach you.

Good luck with your sale! :)

ETA - the others might work for me also, now that I think about it more. Let me know.

All I can say is that those diamonds probably will sell for a fraction of the price you have listed because they are so poorly cut. Honestly, I wouldn't pay $100 US for either one. Your photography is very good, though.

Thanks for your response. We'll see, the certs cost more than that with shipping and insurance! :o

The Old Mine Cuts will probably fetch less than the Old European cuts just because, as DS noted, OMC are usually cut rather assymetrically as compared to OEC's, and don't fare as well in the light return department. We've seen a growing interest in OEC's here, but not much in OMC's. So as a first step you might want to separate the OEC's from the OMC's. I think you might be able to get over $150 for the .38, but clearly not from DS. :wink2: You might consider contacting Old World Diamonds, Jewels by Grace, or Love Affair Diamonds to see if they'd be interested in taking on the parcel or part of it.

Thanks for your suggestions VR

:D

Those were good suggestions. I do think someone would have to see photos like that of every stone to have any idea if they'd be interested and to help them price them. I agree that OEC's might have a better chance of selling. I probably would not have sent those two stones for GIA grading since it will be hard to recoup the cost and make any profit. It can be worth it on larger and more valuable stones. I hope you understand that I was just trying to be honest and was not meaning to sound critical.

I agree with others. I have seen 1/2 ct OECs for private sale being offered at or around $500.
