I have been lurking around the PS forums for around a month or so and have gathered TONS of information from all of you. I am planning on popping the question within the next month and am getting close to making the purchase. My GF (soon to be fiance) has recently switched her preference from the princess cut to the round brilliant because she "wants it to be all sparkly". After exhaustive searching for H&A diamonds I have come down to the following two diamonds:

1.35 H&A

1.528 H&A

The second is around $1500 more and was wondering if anyone here has a preference for any one of these and if the larger stone is worth the extra money(i am already going over budget

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

Dear Dave

I don''t think you''ll go wrong with either stone. But the plot of the 1.35 seems to be a little better than the plot for the 1.52

A 1.50 carat diamond has a higher per carat price and the labs are a little more forgiving when grading clarity on diamonds weighing over 1.50 carats.

In addition, you say that the budget is sort of limited, so seems the 1.35 MIGHT be the better choice of the two given the price and the clarity factors.

To comment on these further, the stones need to be compared by seeing them. But based on the "limited" information that you do have, I would choose the lesser expensive stone. Check the dimensions to see if there is a big difference. Probably not... the diameters will probably only be a "hair" larger.

You can also see this by asking white flash to photograph the two diamonds together. Then you''ll see the differences and decide for yourself if the extra $$$ is worth it for you purpse.

Hope this helps

Rockdoc,

Thank you for your reply! I was pretty much leaning in the same direction myself. Well, I called up WF and talked a bit with Denise and ended up ordering the stone and ring (vatche platinum x-prong channel set) right then and there. It should be ready for me in around 3 weeks. I will be sure to post some pictures when I get it.

Thanks again,

Dave
