Hello,

You must all be tired of Gem Newbies like me popping up to get confirmation on a stone they are looking to buy but I could really use the help! Found a stone I like in the right price bracket but need to confirm its fine, especially as it is an online sale. I have been assured its eye clean etc etc etc but still want to be one hundred percent.

Theres the link. The company is B2C, anyone had any dealings with them? The pic is of the actual stone.

They also have the GIA report on there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Chris and welcome!

No problem at all, that's what we are here for! The diamond appears to have potential in the image, an ASET image would be the next step, B2C can provide these on request. It's hard to evaluate a diamond just from an image, it does have attractive qualities certainly but from the image we have, I can see it's showing the ' crushed ice' effect from the tip upwards and at the top of the stone but it could be the dark background isn't helping. Good points, it looks as if there isn't a large bow tie that I can see in the image but it's not really possible to judge these from a static image, B2C would be able to give you a better idea by viewing the diamond in person. The shape of the pear itself is attractive which is another plus. E colour is possibly discounted due to the strong blue fluorescence, if this stone is intended for an engagement ring, make sure the recipient would appreciate seeing this effect under UV light! SI clarity is a great choice if verified eye clean, you would need to ask B2C to check this for you.You would also need to check that there aren't any negative issues from the cloud inclusion nor durability from the cavity, unlikely in SI1 but best to check.

I would think let's shortlist this diamond and see what else is out there pending an ASET image for this stone and possibly a couple more photographs. Where you set on having a colourless diamond or would you consider D -H?

Thanks so much for the response.

I've never really encountered the crushed Ice effect (although I haven't been looking long) what effect does this really have on the stone?

Do the inclusions seem worrying, especially the 2 feathers in the centre and the cavity on the edge on the back?

Yes the shape is good, I like the ratio and the limit of the bow tie is a plus. Im not to worried about the fact the colour is discounted by the Strong Blue. I think this is actually makes it stand out a bit. I have floated this with the other half, waiting for some feedback.

Their gemologist has stated it to be eye clean. I did want VS but prices go mad after SI, likewise if I wanted to go over 1.00 Carat.

With regards to colourless, it is preferable but at that size you can't really tell as you can with larger stones. Probably more for the bragging rights. I will request an ACET image and see what they say.

I'm going to recommend one from JA. They have videos of their stones so its easier to see how the stones react to lighting. They will
also give you asets on up to 3 different stones. Usually people pick their top 3 choices and request asets then choose the stone
from there.

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/pear-shaped/0.90-carat-i-color-si1-clarity-sku-231404 does have a little bit of bow-tie
but has nice clean facets.
This is the only one I could fine that looked nice if your price range is around $2500.

What is your budget?

Price range is $2500 ish but can push that if needs be. Thanks for the Advice, I have emailed them with a few options I found on their site. Good for comparison at the very least.

Love the chubby shape and high color.

ASET images requested on the stone as well as a few from James Allen. Any idea how long these usually take?
