So today, I decided I wanted to take my .45 center carat 2nd hand Tiffany Soleste to the Tiffany's store at the Galleria here in Houston and see how I was treated because I have heard from other people that they were treated kind of poorly.

I met with Ben. I told him i purchased it second hand. Showed it to him and matched it up with his other Tiffany Soleste rings. I actually have decided I want to go a little bigger so I will be returning it but I got the absolute best service that made me love Tiffany even more. Almost enough to pay the extra $4000 it would cost to get the ring I want.

Anyway, I asked him what is the differences in level of service when I purchase a Tiffany ring 2nd hand and that's what I want to share with everyone today.

If you purchase a Tiffany ring 2nd hand, you can take it up to Tiffany's for cleanings, polishings, and resizing (with the normal fee) and they will treat it just like you bought it from their store. The only difference is the lifetime diamond warranty that you get purchasing directly from Tiffany.

Other than that, there is absolutely no difference. Ben took my ring he verified that the laser inscribing was in the diamond. he pulled the report on it and he gave me what the retail value of it was. AMAZING service!!!! I wanted to share this with everyone because I had never seen it anywhere about the differences. It would be helpful for future ring men shoppers like myself.

I love Tiffany's.

Thanks for posting. This is good to know.

Did you by any chance ask them why the lab report number is laser inscribed on a bezel facet instead of the girdle where the GIA and AGS put them? I'm just curious. I had to call them to ask because I couldn't find it on my Tiffany Fancy Yellow diamond without asking.

That is great! I am glad you were treated so well! I would always ask for that salesman when you go there. Tiffany does have some beautiful things. I have a few myself! But I believe you pay a LOT for the name, so buying second hand is a far better deal. So if I were you, I'd watch for a second hand, like new Soleste in your size or close to it.

I did not ask that question. I was just ecstatic that the ring I got was legit.

I am glad to hear you had a great experience at Tiffany's.

Great write up Craigs, thank you! Very good to know you had such a nice experience! I am with DS, always ask for Ben next time you shop, it's good to be able to build a relationship with an excellent SA.
