Second hand Rolex

I have having the jeweler pull the serial number and verify the number but they are willing to part with it for $2500 all in. It looks to be in fantastic shape but wanted to check if that was a “good deal” I have it on hold till I can get the serial number.

There’s actually a few “parts” to buying a pre loved Rolex.
Is it all Rolex?
Firstly you need to check the movement is genuine, that’s quite easy to remove the back and check the movement and removing the band because the watches serial number is under one lug and the watch model under the other.
Next, the band. Genuine bands are important and there are replicas (still stainless and gold but aftermarket) and Chinese fakes. Again watchbands have serial numbers and looking at these plus the quality and positioning of logos will tell you.
Thirdly and less important to many is aftermarket dials and/ or bezels. Often diamond set bezels and diamond set faces are “aftermarket”.
Looking at your watch I would be confident that the watch, band, bezel and face are original and $2,500 is a good price.
Make sure the watch is keeping good time as a Rolex service is around $500!

Mine is a vintage model. Manufacture can be IDed by serial and movement number. The watch and band is Rolex but I knew the diamond dial was “aftermarket” and I chose to put the purple pink face on, again aftermarket.
I get a specialist watchmaker to service my watch because Rolex is “funny” about modifications

With all original links, yes. A ladies Datejust is 26mm wide. A ladies Oyster (older style no date) is 24mm.
You really have to ensure, if buying pre loved, that you have enough links to fit your wrist because the price of buying just one extra link will make your eyes water! Always check the bracelet length / enquire as to whether they keep any taken off. A friend of mine foolishly sold her extra links for scrap gold (what was she thinking!) and after her baby and gaining some weight, Watch didn’t fit so 3 more links was the best part of $800!

Good to know! I was definitely going to take it to an appraiser or to my watch repair place to verify it, I get my bertolucci watch serviced at a reputable place who could most likely verify. I didn’t know there were so many parts that could be modified!

My wrist is 6” and this is fairly loose on me, I would have to have links taken out. I am not sure at all what the watch size, there wasn’t any info given on it but their watch guy is coming on Tuesday so I can ask for specifics and update you
