Searching for suggestions for a 1.1-1.3 carat pear or cushion

Are you asking which shape to go for, or for recommmendations on diamond suppliers?

If you are asking for suggestions of which to choose it will largely depend on a number of things.

1-Does the wearer have a preference for one over the other?
2-What type of work or daily activities does the wearer participate in while she may be wearing the ring (durability and appearance issues can come into play based on daily activities) (Is it even for a ring?)
3-is this for an engagement ring solitaire or a different purpose? If you are trying to match existing jewelry or are going to pick a setting with complimentary diamonds you may get different advice depending on these factors.
4 - Several other questions regarding desired clarity and color and choice of metal for the setting may come into play, but we can start here.

1. She liked both the cushion and the pear, although the pear was her favorite.
2. She's a physician, so often will be taking gloves off/on during the day for exams.
3. This is for an engagement ring with a pave/halo setting.

My personal preference is pear shaped too as you will get a bigger look for your money., especially as she's considering a halo setting.

Having worked in a dental surgery, where I was changing gloves between every patient, I never wore jewellery when at work, and would be wary of constantly pulling gloves off and on with such a setting.

I'll leave the diamond buffs to advise on the actual stone.

Ditto this. there are several threads here on this issue actually. Many choose to wear only a wedding band and forgo the e-ring at work. Several have posted really gorgeous low profile eternity bands so they still have some bling instead of just a plain wedding band. Alternately, there are also some necklaces that you can purchase that fits the e-ring on beautifully so it's still seen but out of the way. Easy to put on and take off that way. That said, both are beautiful looks but if she prefers the pear, go for it. You'll get a larger looking stone than if you went with a cushion, too.

Pears in this size range can run from $5.5k to about $15k. Can you narrow down the budget any?

BE is more of a cushion place (obviously they can get pears) but wouldn't be surprised if you come out
of there with a cushion (which is fine if thats what you want!)
