The style of the ring brought to mind a shield fo the finger, so I googled “shield ring silver”.
Who knew there are things called “nipple shield rings” - and so many of them. Very interesting.
Anyhow, the term “shield ring” does seem to (also) work for that general style of ring made to be worn on the finger!
I’m afraid that’s about as far as I got. My first impression of the image was that it’s a ship on water - which might suggest a Scandanavian influence - but my second impression was that it’s a rather cute bat.
And yes, it turns out that there are also bat wing nipple shield rings out here. Lots of ‘em!
I think it is Asian. Bats are common good luck motifs in Asian art.
The curved shapes would represent clouds.
It looks like maybe a hair ornament or other decorative item converted into a ring.
My sister used to have a sterling enamel ring that was made from an antique Chinese hair ornament.
It's very cool!
